Just ran 3dmark03 for the first time this evening and my score came out at 800, the first game demo that it runs was cruising between 150-200 FPS most of the time seecond through fourth were no higher than 15 and usually less than 10. Not sure what the problem is. System specs are:

Athlon XP 2500+@1.83, Asus A7N8X-X, OCZ PC3200, Gainward 5900nu@450/900 with newest drivers(AA 4X, AF 8X), 40GB 7200 WD, DX 9.0b. I've tried it with vsync on and off both with the same results. Not sure what the problem could be. Most of the games I run look and perform fine just the 3dmark03 results are really bad. Not sure what else to do.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

If your games play fine, why bother with 3DMark?

I don't own a GeForce FX card and I've not yet run 3DMark on my 9800 Pro with AA and AF but that could be your problem right there. The scores that most everyone posts are without AA and AF turned on.

Because I'm wondering if they would be significantly better if I got my 3dmark scores fixed.

3k is a lot more than 800!

Thats about right for 5900nu, They are budget cards. With more tweaking you should be able to get close to 4k.

Errrrr.... i got 3700 with my 9600 at stock everything.... and 3900 with a tad of overclocking... i thought the 5900nu should ATLEAST be beating a 9600pro NOT XT, keep in mind.

look up your card on some review that has similar system setup as yours and then see if they got anything near your score ... if not then its either the crazy 3d settings you are running or that you have a budget based card

That is a decent score for the setup..
I got 4550 for the rig in my sig...

Will

I'm at 5052 on my SE version of the 5900; I'd say something isn't right with your setup, you should be 5500-6000 (just my guess).

Not me! ;)

And btw, 6-8xAA and 8-16xAF (I ran 6x/16x) will bring any flag ship card to its knees. "Help me I'm choking"

WRONG. . . . the 5900 is not a budget card and that score is WAY low, check out my sig for my system specs and my 03 score.

If your games are running just fine with 4xAA and 8xAF they aren't going to get any better unless you are currently seeing alot of choppyness. I usually run call of duty at 1152x864 with 2xAA & 4xAF (or 1280x1024 with AA off & 4AF), rest of the details are at high or max. Anything higher than that and performance goes down the shitter.

But for bragging rights you could try oc'ing your card.
Have you tried adjusting the core and memory speeds of your card? If not, what is 3DMark03 identifying them as? Maybe they are set low, or heck, maybe they are cranked up to high- that can cause I significant drop in performance too. When I turned my card speeds up at one point I lost 1200 3DMarks.
