Hello, I have a Viewsonic VX94 LCD monitor. I have owned this monitor for roughly 6 months. Today I noticed a fine horizontal line located towards the top of the monitor on the LCD. It shows up greenish. It's about 1mm thin and spands the entire monitor. I need to know what this is. I tried to see what it could be on Viewsonic's website, but they refer to aperature grill technology being the cause. That is a confusion, for that only applies to CRT monitors. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this, and if I need to send this monitor in for replacement, how good is Viewsonic about exchanges?

Is it possible that you left the monitor on overnight or for an extended period of time with a static image displayed on the screen? If so it's possible that this is temporary 'LCD Burn In' or what I call the 'Etch-a-Sketch' effect. Try leaving the monitor on and displaying a completely white screen for an hour or two to see if the problem goes away.

LCD burn in can be a problem with ANY LCD panel, but if more apparent in panels that are overdriven in order to produce faster response times. It's temporary and will usually go away after some amount of time. That time can be dramatically decreased if you display a sustained solid white image.

You can stop this effect from happening in the first place if you enable a screensaver of some kind in your operating system. (Blank Screen is my personal choice)

If it's not LCD burn in then it could be a defect of some kind and you might need to RMA the unit to the manufacturer.

I had this happen with a Samsung 940b except mine was vertical. RMA the monitor right away as it just gets worse.
