So I did a rewire job, while my super tower (10 year old case FTW), laid on its side. I started the comp in this position. My temps were 7C LOWER!!! at my overclock of 3600MHz (450X8) load temps were 59, now 52, and i got up to 4GHz (500X8) STABLE! with ram at 5-7-7-21 and load temps were 61 (didnt want to try it upright LOL). Now its back upright, back at 3.6GHz, and back at 59-60 load....so i am getting the ATX acrylic cube case from Sunbeam and i hope this will solve my problem. I also have extra fans for the underside and side of the BT, and airflow is much better in that case.

I also am using Thermaltake thermal grease, no AS5, and my HSF is lapped, but not my CPU. if i did these things how much of a temp difference will i see?

right now i have a TT Thunderblade, but as i got this HSF combo used I am not sure if its the old loud 78CFM or the new quieter 58CFM. Either way, with a Delta 220CFM fan, will I see a drastic drop in temps? or even with a cheaper, 150-160CFM fan?

That sounds about right... I had the same thing w/ my ultra-120 extreme: I get better temps with it in a North/South position vs. wen it's oriented East/West... both my parts are lapped so go figure. You can rationalize things all you want, but it's really tough to argue with real data :)

Only problem with the UFO is that anything much taller than the stock cooler (or a full height expansion card for reference) won't fit in it.

Sounds like me with my peice of fucking shit that I hate SO much Thermalright SI-128.

When the pins would crap on me, and just pop out, if I put my case on the side, it would drop a total 35c!

It made the difference between working, and not.
85c to 50c!
At stock, undervolted!

That was because I just couldnt take those pins anymore.

Maybe gravity is pushing your heatsink on, THAT much more?
:)

Maybe the Big Typhoon is using gravity-feed heatpipes instead of wick-type?
