been a long time since ive purchased any hardware

over the past month weeks and lately more often days my pc will hard shut down for no reason. not even when gaming or stuff, say web browsing

also when i put the pc to sleep and try n wake it up it says it had a power failure.

im running this old powersupply in my sig.ENERMAX Liberty 500W PS

so after some research on stuff in my local area and reading some reviews and posts here and jonnyguru and a few other sites, and gettin a general idea of what is local/affordable and will do for my rig.

i settled on the
Corsair - Gaming Series 700-Watt ATX CPU Power Supply

i could have gotten Thermaltake - 850-Watt TR2 RX Power Supply

but i saw no compelling reason to go that brand....i always saw them as making cpu coolers and the like.

so will this Corsair GS 700W keep the pimp juice flowing fresh through my circuitry?
Its gotta be much better than that old 4 or 5 year old clunker 550W liberty i had in it.

The GS700 is a pretty good PSU; it should work quite well for you. You did well to buy it instead of the Thermaltake; although there are some very good Thermaltake PSUs, that model is not one of them.

upgrade wise would it be reasonable to upgrade my cpu?

i feel its lagging behind rather than the video card. problem is finding cheap remaining core2quad high end cpu;s

I wouldn't put any more money into s775 personally. Unless you find a really cheap Q9550 or similar chip, I don't think its worth it.
