Hooking up Playstation2 to 7900gt

Hi there. I've got a 7900GT CO video card and a VX2025WM monitor. The 7900gt came with a s-video cable and I was just wondering how I would go about hooking up my Ps2 to my computer. Has anyone done this? Also, would I need any software for it to run properly or to shift the display? Thanks!
 
You card doesn't have video in, just video out. And unfortunately your monitor doesn't have S-Video or composite in. You'll need more hardware like a capture card or TV tuner.
 
and just so you dont run out and get a capture card/TV tuner without knowing this... the quality is crap. any hardware accelerated MPEG card will lag like crazy and most cards will show the interlacing lines on screen, which is very annoying. I found it is best to just stick with a TV.
 
Interesting. What card was it?

Both my Hauppage card and ATI cards looked like garbage, I couldnt play.
 
Thanks for the replies. I'm not going to bother going out and buying any new hardware. I've got a TV in the next room but I thought it would be neat to hook it up here if I was capable. Cheers!
 
Some widescreen lcd's have composite, svideo, svga, component and dvi inputs.
That would make it worthwhile. Granted you got the cash for a nice lcd :)
 
it was an "EYE TV" Pci solution, I got it used on ebay for 45$ (Normally 130 USD new). Games, fullscreen on my 20' Cinema display were flawless without any sort of lag (except for DDR... that belonged to my ROOMATE*... showed a 1-2 ms delay).


* I swear it was his game, I'd NEVER sink that low :). He had the mats and everything!

say your video card supports VIVO, and you hook the gaming console up to the s-video in line in the back. Is it just plug and play? I turn on the system and my monitor will automatically detect it and display it?


Or must something else be done?
 
The rsolution stays the same , this only makes a difference with the xbox where you get more eye candy out of it but its really not worth doing that with the PS2.

Also it a vga connector you buy and they are quite expensive , about £35 in the uk. I was going to buy one for the xbox but then i looked at the price and i said no, i will play it on the tv.

My crt is 21" and i wanted to compare my XFX6600gt i bought at the time.

Res is locked at 640x480i, not sure if that is what you meant. How does this mode unlock more "eye candy"? Unless youre talking about progressive scan... which is more about resoultion through the VGA cables...
