i got bored and hooked up my pc to my hdtv last night via s-video cable, and it was awesome, except the res was a little low.

someone told me that 1080i is 1920x1080, but i could only get mine up to 1280 * 720.

do I need like a special cable to get the 1080i? Cuz i would really like to do it. I had a blast last night playing UT2k4 on teh big screen :)

you are on the [H] and have a dvi card you should know better than to use s-video....id bitch slap you if I could...:)
you need to check and see what inputs your HDTV has....if it has dvi..then you have your answer about 1080i and all that..

ok i checked it out and it only has s-video and compenent video

what can i do?

yea :(

it was only like $450 for 27", but its HDTV and progressive scan

oof thats why. From what i know only the bigger hdtv's have dvi.

If you have an ATI card, grab one of these: DVI-I to HDTV Component .

I have one for my HTPC and it works great.

I also saw in the latest NVidia driver release that they added support for a HDTV component adapter. I have no idea if this same adapter will work with NVidia or if they require a different one.
