I have at least 2 different LCD screens from laptops that are just sitting around the computer room. I would like to put them to use.

Anyone know of any way to hook these up to a desktop system?

Anyone know what I need to be able to look up the part needed to hook them up?

Where do I start?

All I know is it's damn hard. If it's even supported by the hardware it'll still be hard to get it set up. I found a few things on google but the general consensus is that it's not a realistic idea.

I tried this once, and that's what I got. I found one adapter, but it cost $100+ and a minimum order of 100. Not even sure that would have worked, as appearantly, most of the hardware that you normally find on a screen, is on a laptops mobo, so the screen can't even drive itself

Recent HardOCP thread, here, says no way. Laptops connect to their screens with LVDS which is a completely different animal from how you connect a monitor to a PC. Eventually they're going to switch to a form of Displayport, but that time hasn't come yet.
