This is my setup, I have my dsl -> Netgear WNDR3300 wireless router with a PC hooked up and a couple of laptops.

In the basement I am building a lab to learn Red Hat. I have no way of getting a drop down there without the wife beating me. Can I purchase another router and daisy chain them together?

yeah, Just get a wireless bridge and new Router.. I have a setup in the basement wireless connected to my main upstairs wireless router... Still get high speeds, but all the benefit of having all my devices downstairs locally connected on N

Yes it is possible. One way to accomplish this is via WDS. Another would be to get a 2nd router that supports wireless client mode (kinda like having a wireless card in your computer). A 3rd option would be to get a wireless ethernet bridge, like those wireless gaming bridges (same thing, just a marketing term).

Netgear has clear instructions on how to set up WDS:

Setting up a router in client mode or getting a wireless ethernet bridge should be as simple as putting in your existing SSID of your wireless network and the WPA/WPA2 passphrase into the new router or ethernet bridge. It should connect up and then you connect your wired desktops/laptops/servers to the bridge or router and they are connected to your network.

I just took an Asus router, flashed it with DD-WRT and use it as a wireless AP. We have the interent downstairs, so that router just pulls its signal off our main router in the basement wirelessly so the PCs upstairs can get internet.

You may also try a wireless gaming adapter. You can configure them to connect to your wireless network then plug your server right into the adapter's Ethernet port. They can be had for <$20 on eBay.

Cheers!
