I have a creative XFi XtremeMusic with Logitech 5.1 surround.
Everything is hooked up, but now I dont know how to plug my tv into my audio system.

The Tv has 1 miniplug input, 1 optical audio output, 2x miniplug output for the speaker attachments.

My guess:

1. add a 2-1 adapter for the 4th miniplug on the soundcard (line in) and plug that to my the 2 outputs for the speaker attachments.
2. somehow use rca to miniplug cable and connect my tv to soundcard??

Since I don't know what the TV is, im a little confused. What is a "speaker attachment" considered, and why are there 2 of these plugs (are both plugs mono?)?

This is the tv I have.

The 2 plugs are on the side for the detachable speakers. Left and Right side.
Im not sure if they are monoplugs as I dont know what those are. The speaker input looks like a headphone size jack.

edit: also when i hooked up my tv to the computer it reads it as a sharp. i guess they are sister companies. but it will not like me go to 1366 x 768 resolution. However my widescreen 19" can go past that for some reason. ive tried switching which is the main monitor but it doesnt do anything. no cd/drivers came with the tv either.

My guess is that since there are two things for the speaker extensions, each one is mono (that is, one is just for the left speaker, one is just for the right speaker).

So, if you want to do this the easy way, this is one possibility.
You buy two cables. Each will be a 3.5mm mono to 3.5mm mono cable (also called a mini mono cable)
Connect each to the speaker extension port. Now, to connect these two cables to your computer, you will want to plug them into the X-fi's line input.
To do this, you will need an adapter to make the two cables become one.
Something like this will work perfectly http://www.radioshack.com/product/i...&kwCatId=2032058&kw=adapter&parentPage=search

So, connect both cables to that, and plug it into the input on the X-fi. And that *should* work.

But, there might be better ways of doing this. Check out the instruction manual for the monitor, it actually has a section on "connecting to a PC" (around page 23).
Look where the DVI cable is, there should also be a jack right next to it. If you have this free, you can just connect a stereo mini to stereo mini cable from the TV to the computer input. example

And lastly, there is a thrid option I *think*. Your tv has a monitor output feature. Should say "Monitor out / rec out". Below it it has a audio Left and Right. So, you can use the same equipment that I said for the first part. Two mono mini cables and the dual mono to stereo mini adapter.

Awesome response! I was actually thinking of the 2-1 adapter myself.
I have an optical output on the tv, but I have no optical input on my PC so that is out.
Also the other audio line next to my DVI port is for input.. Yeah? If it were output that would be great, but its not.

I will get the wires and let you know how it turns out.
Thanks!

Hey guys I was wondering if I should ditch my Creative XFI Xtrememusic for my onboard sound. I have this mobo.
MSI K8NGM2-FID
Realtek ALC880
8 Channels
It also has a bracket w/ SPDIF that incorporates 3 miniplugs and one yellow rca.

I know my xtreme has a more modern (?) digital in/out in miniplug format, but I guess for my use of just watching cable and listening to music should I sell it? (No trouble as I have a friend who wants it.)

If the answer is yes, I guess I will take a look and see how I am going to re-setup my audio.

Thanks for reading!

Ah, sorry about that slight mistake (with the audio plug next to the DVI). You are right.
And after looking at actual picture of the TV, I now see what type of connectors there are (the instructions were confusing)

Yea, you could sell your x-fi if you don't expect to use it and use your onboard sound (blasphemy).

If it were me though, I would keep the card, and just connect the monitor audio out on the TV with your line input on the sound card. Use a dual RCA to mini cable like this example.
That's all you need, nothing else.

~Hope this helps
