I want your pure speculation. I know it can be done, but will it? I am not saying anytime soon even. Just wondering if it will ever be done?

They have re released many Final Fantasy's before.... Most of us agree that 7 was the best... if not the best game of all time. I know some argue this, but 99% agree it was awesome non the less.

I had a dream they remade this game last night... and I know I have talked about it in the past but they really could do it for the 10th anneversy of the game next year. The amazing graphics of the PS3 could only enhance this game..... so what do you think?

I wish they would redo the game..... but I am sceptical if it will ever happen.... your thoughts plz

ah I'm just pullin your leg mate.

I reckon they'll do it just because there is so much interest even after all this time. They might also look to see how that movie went (advent children right?) and make up their mind

Either way, I reckon its more likely than not.

(but yeah, just wanted to egg ya on :) )

FF7 was a real good game, last one I played. If they redo it it'd be cool, but i probably wouldnt buy it unless there was some new stuff or element to the game.

If they remade it and put it on PS3, Sony will never have to worry about selling enough PS3's. I think it's perfectly possible.

I know!

I am at that point to where im debating a 400$ XBox 360 or a 500$ + PS3... but.. if FF7 remake was being released for the PS3... then I would not think twice.

I would buy a PS3, FF7 Remake and New TV all in the same day.

They had a tech demo a while back showing what the intro would look like done on PS3 hardware. I can't find the link right now, but it looked good. There was a lot of speculation on whether or not it would be redone, but no one had the answers.

As it was one of the greatest games ever made, and a best seller, I'm sure it would be a hit if re-released. I still play my old PS1 because of that game. Of couse, it doesn't matter if it is redone with better graphics, as long as the core elements stay the same: it's going to be awesome! I don't know if I'd pay $60 for updated graphics, though. It was the game that made it awesome, not the graphics.

I've lost track of the rumor mill.
At first, squeenix made a partial remake of the beginning of ff7 to show off the ps3 power.
They said they wouldn't remake the whole thing.

Last I heard, it was in discussion and entirely possible that they would but I wouldn't expect it for years.
Take it with a grain of salt.

Well, as with everything, they claimed it was running on PS3 hardware, which I do believe at the time had not been finalized. I have seen that video though, and it certainly is impressive.

I wish they would remake the graphics, give it a decent translation, and then patch up all the holes in the game. 1/32 soldier? tissues? replica of sephiroth's sword? either make it good for something or take it out!

I Would think twice. Like hell I'm gonna pay $500+ for a console even if it did have FF7. You want FF7 just get a PS2 or PS1 and play the original.

Well I am replaying FF7 again probably for the 10th or so time right now. I can pretty much play with my eyes closed. :)

But Its one game that I have a game going all the time. As soon as i beat it, i start a new game :)

You should check out FFIX, IMO it's the second best in the series right behind VII, it's a lot better than the pile of crap that was VIII.

My record time for finishing the game is 14 hours, 20 minutes. See if you can beat it ;)

I ahve said it before and I'll say it again,
FF7 remade with Advent Children's GFX would be the PS3's HALO.

I hope they do remake the game with new gfx, that would look so very awesome.
I can't think of a single person who played FFVII who wouldn't buy an updated version of the game.
It'd sell millions of coppies!

With all of the buzz of a remake, the new spinoff coming, and advent children, the price of FFVII has significantly inflated on ebay.

Alot of people get upset saying "dont ruin the game or change it by updating the graphics etc"

If you dont like it, then dont play it. They didnt ruin anything... you still have millions of CDs with the original game on it you can buy and play. But for those of us who think the Music, the game, the story etc are stellar, but the blocky crappy PSX graphics need to go. I understand that for the time FF7 came out, that was the best graphics to offer... but they were horrible.

Sure, in 20 years, the PS3s graphics will be ick, but honestly... they look good enough. The FF7 characters dont even look like people on the screen, but more like blocks put together.... at least now we have the technology to produce quality graphics unlike ever before.

I think that such a game like FF7 (being the best game ever) needs that opportunity to flourish with a new look

I'd doubt Square-Enix would ever have time to redo a Final Fanstay VII. With all the new console either out or coming out, all their resources for the near future are going to be spent making individual franchises for each console. The only time they have ever re-visited a game was Final Fantasy X-2. Even then they just used the same game engine with a different storyline. Hah, now that I think about it, eight years from now people in holographic forums will want a remake of Final Fantasy X series. Oh yeah, please play Final Fantasy III (Final Fantasy VI in Japan).

FF3 (6 in japan) >>>>>> 7
:D
I do not agree... however... FF3 was the 2nd best <3

So why is it that Final Fantasys are not as good as they used to be?

It wouldn't be too hard to do, as the world is already designed, the maps are there, the dialogue, the storyline. The only thing that would need updating would be the graphics engine. The sound and music were great.

I think the total time to market this game would be around 6 months tops. You're not building an entire game. You'd need to design the models, backgrounds, maps, ships, and the pre-rendered scenes. Put in a few extras (original game with original graphics would be a plus!), soundtrack, behind the scenes, etc... With all the storage space of the PS3, it will be easy to add all the new and extra features.

I really enjoyed X. Not as much as 3/6, but I thought it was still quite good.

My first taste of FF was 7, so I was engrossed in amazingness. 8 wasn't half as good but still had great parts to it. 9 had characters I loved, but the story was weak and I never finished it.
FFX was amazing to me, just Blitzball alone ate up hours and hours of my time! X-2 was not half as good as X. I haven't played any FF since X-2, so I can't say anything.

FF10 > FF8, FF9
FF7 > FF10
:)

Is this as opposed to a dishonest discussion???

Seriously I wish they would remake it, that moment when I first pulled off the end game uber attack combo rocked my world. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Omnislash?

You can get it from the battle arena and teach it to cloud, so you can use it whenever he gets a limit break, not just that final little bit with sephiroth.

How many times must they directly say they're not going to remake this game before you people will believe them?

I hope they never remake it. It just wouldn't feel the same not seeing those blocky characters. The game is perfect the way it is.

How many times must they say that the ps3 will launch in the spring before you believe them? :p

It just seems inhumanly cruel to go to all that effort in making that cg movie, get fans' hopes up, and then not do it.

Tell me, Honestly

Why whould they make a FF7 Tech Demo for the PS3? Of all the things... they couldnt do metal gear? or something? But they had to choose FF7... that leads me to beleive other things..... are planned for FF7 to be remade....

It's not going to happen.

They might do a sequel (doubt it)

or a spinoff (dirge of cerberus)

but thats it.

I mean come on.. they are struggling to bring out a system that was suppose to have released in Japan right now.

And using "Sony lies so much these days so therefore the repeated ""NOT GONNA HAPPEN" statement about FFVII redux on PS3 must not be true.." as some kind of proof it can happen.

well..

I don't know what to say but..

:!!!!!! - with the ability to defy logic"

Dude, they did a FF8 tech demo for the PS2. It didn't get remade. Give it up.

Agreed on all points.

Lately, nothing would surprise me, I'd love a remake of VII.

I think blitzball was one of the big turnoffs for me about X. The cardgame in IX was annoying, but you didn't really have to play it if you didn't want to....

For me the order is FFVII > FFIX > FFIII > FFX > FFVIII those are the only ones I have played. I have tactics, anthology, and the other PS1 compilation around here, plus tactics, but until the PS3 comes out I can't play them, as my PS2 doesn't like CDs or Blue Discs anymore.
