Hey was just wondering if any of you guys have made your own mosfet coolers.. i was thinking of takeing some pennys and sanding/grinding then lapping a smooth finsiht on both sides.. then taking a pair of plyers while haveing it in a vice to keep it flat and cutting four snips into each 90 degrees and bending it straight up.. then maybe attaching it with some kind of thermal glue are something. would that work... Are pennys even pure copper anymore and even if they aren't do you think it would help any?

Pennies haven't been pure, or even mostly copper, for quite some time.

You can get TO-220 and other heatsinks from digikey and mouser for a cheap. Just buy them.

If your Lincoln Memorial penny has a date before 1982, it is made of 95% copper.

If it was made in 1982, it could be copper or sinc, they made both in that year.

If it was made after 1982, it is 97% zinc.
