homemade led fan

It's a really unique and cool mod...but too much time and energy to make somthing you can just buy.
 
but u can't buy one of these, it took me bout an hour, isn't it better to make sumthin yourself

Where did you get those LEDs? I think they would look good in one of the more traditional LED fans witht he lights on the ouside. Would make a kinda rainbowey effect if you lit a case with them...
 
try to find out for me... please? and i love the fact that u did it ur self, i am so mad at these current LED fans haha i made an led fan like they have now way back in the day

Eventhough I have no problem spending money on something I like or want I still like building it if I could. Nice mod

Okay, how is it unique? Not that it really upsets me, but I see "unique" handed out too liberally, and not just on this forum.
 
It is unique, thats the first Ive ever seen of it, and I come to this forum more than I touch myself.

I made a sweet fanbus for about 20 bucks (I made it all, soldered, everything) knowing I could buy one for about 10...

I got some supplies I can reuse like speaker wire, solder, some plugs... etc, but overall it was 20 bucks. My fanbus > bought fanbus.
 
actually the first LED fans had the LED's in the blades... i made a few like this a long time ago... but its quite difficult...

then they started manufacturing "LED" fans with the leds on the outside and everyone forgot about the "original" led fans...

still, sweet mod, nice to see that somone is still doing it themselves!:D
 
ya really! I love making my own stuff, makes me feel like i am special and just for that fact my stuff looks just as good if not better than any pre modded items
 
one thing about that guide is that the LED's the way he mounted them are not balanced...

the LEDs need to be directly across from each other on the fan, or else the fan will vibrate due to the fact that the weight will be uneven across the blades...

which would not only reduce the efficiency of the fan, it can also cause it to make an annoying noise
