Home theater speaker question

I bought a Kenwood 5.1 "Home Theater in a Box" a few years ago. It has the 500w receiver and the 100w sub. Everything is great with it except the front right speaker enclosure dropped and punctured one of the speakers today. Add that to the fact that the front left speaker is blown, and I need some new front speakers. I was wanting a recommendation for replacement speakers that won't break the bank. I don't figure that I need to get all 6, but if there is a good bargin to be had on the whole package, that might work. I was more thinking about just the front left and front right. Thanks!

What sort of [equipment] should I get?

To make useful recommendations, you need to give proper information.

* Give your budget.

How much are you willing to spend to listen to good sound? You might think this computer hobby is expensive but, the amount you could spend for audio can make what you spent on your new computer look like pennies. However unlike high priced computer gear, quality audio equipment does not really become obsolete. Good gear can give years, even decades of excellent service.

* Tell us how and where you might use the equipment.

Do you plan to use your computer audio rig to listen primarily to music, play lots of games, and/or watch movies on your computer? List a few kinds of music, games, and movies you like. Give us the size of the room, and how the speakers and listeners might be placed.

* Tell us what other audio equipment you have on hand.

It makes little sense recommending uber-speakers if you plan to run them off some crappy integrated sound implementation. Also, where available, old speakers or receivers might be rolled in to the solution to produce good sound for rather little money.

Sorry, I will try to be more clear.

Budget: Preferably under $100 for the 2 front speakers. Really looking for a good bang for the buck.

Use: Home Theater 5.1 surround. General TV watching, and DVD watching.

Other Equipment: Kenwood V-309 receiver (500w DD & DTS) 5 satellite speakers and a 100w powered sub.

My utmost suggestion is the Fosgate FA51.0 bookshelf speakers (dammit, I don't know where that link went...). I picked up a pair of these about a month ago and have been wowed by how great they sound. But if you're looking for bookshelf speakers more in your listed range, the Polk R15 can be had on ebay for about $90 and also the Klipsch SB-1 can be found for about $119 shipped.

Don't forget your center channel, it is the most important speaker in a 5.1 system for watching movies. If you upgrade your two front speakers and neglect your center channel you may find that any dialog will be drowned out by your mains. When you're out speaker shopping, price out the cost of the matching center channel from the same manufacturer to avoid timbre matching problems.

Unfortunately, the coupon and the free shipping for the deal has expired. They're not as hot anymore.

For $100, you're going to need to look at used items. You're not going to buy anything decent for that money from a store.
