Well its not the actualy front panel connectors, its the connecting. My motherboard NOR my soundcard supports front audio connections. I want to wire up these ports so that it gets the audio signal from the soundcard, and if I plugin my headphones, it shuts off the speakers. I believe this would be possible with like 3 or 4 transistors, but I do not know my gates. Maybe their is a cheap IC for this. Can anyone help me with this? If nobody has any clue I will just wire up a DPDT switch.

they make this realy easy... with no transistors!
for exaple: http://www.excess-solutions.com/images/2183.jpg
there is a 1/8 inch jack that has 5 pins, and 2 built in switches. when there is nothing pluged into these jacks, the left in goes to left out, and right in goes to right out. when you plug something into it, it disconnects the 2 out pins, disabling your speakers, and only sending audio to your headphones.

any electronics site will sell these, maybe even radio shack...

allelectronics has em for 30 cents http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=190&item=MJW-16&type=store

You don't need a switch and don't need no transistors.
Grab a package of the Switchcraft style panel mount minijacks from radio shack and a cable mount 3.5mm stereo plug.
You also need some wire and assorted hand tools.

Wire everything up like this:

Of course you could just buy the same exact thing from Frontx

Thanks a lot guys, I was just about to install the switch too. This is exactly what I needed.
