1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
--- will be used as a home server for hosting my files and backups
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
--- not a specific budget but would like to keep the cost low. Will be buying from NCIX.com as its local and I can pick the parts up
3) Where do you live?
--- Vancouver, Canada
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
--- CPU, mobo, RAM, HDD(s), video card if need be, case and PSU
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
--- nothing
6) Will you be overclocking?
--- nope
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
-- not needed
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
--- tomorrow if possible
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
--- Just a PCI-E port would be nice, at least 2 SATA ports
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
--- Have a spare copy of Win 7 x64 from work; but maybe I could try out a linux distro?

Just looking to build a simple home file server and backup rig. Thinking an Atom would be perfect for such a task; at the moment I'm looking to base the build around an "Intel D510MO" Mini-ITX board. Couple quick notes:
- 2TB would be enough space
- Case, don't want it too big but doesn't necessarily have to be a SFF case.
- system will, of course, be on 24/7

Thanks.

Acer Aspire Easystore or ASUS Ts Mini Server

the problem is that you cant get a dual core atom out of a prebuilt.

thats 165 but didn't include the hard drive(s) that little case can hold 2 so its up to you how you want to do it.. I can say though I am a fan of the Samsung Eco Drives. I have 3 of them in my WHS with that same board & they have all been flawless.

Really liking your suggestions Bastage. One question, does the D510MO come with onboard video? Can't seem to find a definite answer.
