Holy Price Gouging Batman!

Ouch... think they take checks? Nice card but WOW!

I'd sooner get a couple of 6800s in SLI !

Ouch!!! I'm sure the PCI-E version has something to do with it. I don't care if you can softmod it and overclock it past x850 speeds its not worth that price. However buys one should be shot.

ahaha, I just came from that page and was thinking the same thing. Must be because its rare or new or both.

holy butt uff!!!

That's why I hate newegg.. but still buy from them when its a good deal because there isn't much choice nowadays... Everyone needs to boycott those gauging pos's.. unless its a good deal.. eat away at their profit!

hm buy a jet ski or a price gouded video cards... decisions

Wow. The lessons I learned in my Economics courses can actually be applied to real life! Now if I can only find some use for all my knowledge on ancient Greek and Roman mythology.

Damn Global Perspective Requirements.

We just do the switch o roo, No one buy any X800 pro's. So there will be more supply then demand and then they will have to sell it to us dirt cheap.! ;)

It's getting progressively more difficult to defend Newegg.

This sort of stuff strikes me as cowboy opportunism. I can't say I've ever seen a highstreet shop where they punt the prices around according to what they think they can get. Going on about supply and demand is one way of putting it, I'd prefer it if people were going on about abuse of the paying customer and rip offs.

have people ever thought that its powercolor themselfs charging more currently for wholesale??

like it or not newegg is a great site and still is alot cheaper compared to other sites, also powercolor is the only 700 buck card on there. so its not newegg raising the price imo

Awww man, darn the luck! Only one per person! :p

I used to love the egg (seeing as how my online shopping started about 6 months ago) because everything they had when I started was cheaper than retail, and shipped in like 2 days usually if you order early enough.

The first price gouge I saw was the eVGA 6800 Ultra...they wanted $619...but hey, free shipping  At first they asked $599 but sold out  and next time around kicked it another $20....I just waited it out and sure enough, a week or two later they started dropping, and they price dropped price each day...I got mine for like $519 or $529, forget which. Yes, it's more than MSRP, but it had free shipping and cost less if I were to go into a Best Buy or Staples and get it and pay tax...I'd rather the egg get tax money than the local government on something that's new and in high demand. But shit like this is WAY too far imo....I need to start finding some other reliable places to shop so I can look around for different prices...newegg has found out that over half of their customer base is extremely loyal and is starting the rape.

All I can say is "meh".

Give me a call when they're 'gouging' on everything instead of just one item, and then we might have something to talk about. If it means anything, this thing supports HDTV, which probably adds a bit to the price.

"Supporting HDTV" just means the ability to output 1920x1080, maximum. Sure, there are interlace issues and some odd syncrate issues, but that's a driver solution, not a hardware one. A bog-standard, low-end, 2-year-old mid-range card can "support HDTV".

That said, I paid $724 for my XT-PE.

Sites are charging that much because people (like me) are paying it, and the supply's incredibly thin. They're probably charging it because they project their revenues forward when they do the books. This protracted lack of high-end cards has hosed the stores because they're not moving the volume they'd projected. They have to make that revenue up somehow...either by increasing the price of one item that's in high demand (the card), or by increasing prices across the board.

Personally, I'd rather see them raise the price on the thing causing them problems, then increase other prices to account for it.

dude... its not all newegg whole say prices go up when in short supply etc

I'm aware of supply and demand, I am in business. But what I consider main retailers, almost always stick to MSRP and sell until outta stock, like Staples would...but I guess not being 'Brick and Mortar' retailer let's them sell at ebay style prices.

I'm not against profit...that's how we eat. I mean, if you don't want it don't buy it. That just seems nuts to me imo seeing how it's not even a XTPE..it's just a damn pro.
