Nice.. I want to pick up playing this game again..

Oh and I saw some people on YT who applied the unreal engine VR mod to this and play it in VR just oooing and aaaaaing the whole time lol. I bet it looks incredible in VR.

Apparently there's a haunted hogsmead passageway quest which was locked to PS5 only previously and is now available to PC with this update. Supposed to be a very fun quest.

Yeah I think I could get baked and really nerd out on photo mode lol! It's like Ansel but on steroids. Ahh happy weekend!

Any indication yet whether that breaks any popular mods?
not 100% sure but when I jumped on nexus lots of the mods said they were compatible with the new patch..

Speaking of.. are there mods I should be running on my vanilla install?

Hogwarts Legacy has a Director's Cut coming, and it may well spell the end for Suicide Squad

A new report by Bloomberg tells the story of the chaotic development of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League...developer Rocksteady Studios, owned by Warner Bros., moved from the singleplayer Arkham games into developing a multiplayer live service title, and the transition was a bumpy one that's ended up with the publisher taking an astonishing $200 million loss on that game

At the end of the report, however, it is mentioned in passing that while Rocksteady doesn't have a next main project to focus on, Warner Bros. is keeping it busy in the wizarding world:

"Many of the studio's employees are now helping to develop a new 'director's cut' version of Hogwarts Legacy. At the same time, according to people familiar, the studio leaders are looking to pitch a new single-player game, which would return Rocksteady to its roots"...

improved mouse controls for broomsticks

Started hopping back on this game after only putting in like 5hrs total. It really is something special. Not a super deep or complicated game, but the level design is great

Characters are pretty great too, I mean not all of them are great but by and large it is a good cast of characters that are fun to be around. Graphics are also pretty solid, the game "looks" very Harry Potter.

As you say, not super deep, but damn fun. I can find plenty of nits to pick, but ultimately I enjoyed the hell out of my playtime.

Been a while since I have looked at this game. Are people still playing this?

We gave up at some point. The initial journey was really wonderful. The music, all the things the readers envisioned were pretty great. (Disclaimer - never read any of them / half-watched a couple, but some kids did, and they adored it).

But then it slipped into a grind and "do the same sorts of things, over there. Maybe with Gimmick #12".

And yes, I know a ton of games do that. But it really hit us in this game to the point where we never finished it.

This game is going to be chock-full or microtransactions isn't it?
What game isnt anymore?
Supposedly not .

I'd be cautiously optimistic of this decision if they stick with it, combined with the decision to make it a buy-to-play title. As far as I'm aware, they will release new cosmetics but for the most part they are meant to be unlocked through play, or other means.

At launch, they're offering a handful of additional items that come from either buying the Deluxe Version of the game (which I think come with 4 sets of cosmetics for each of the Hogwarts houses), a Pre Order bonus they stated will be available to others later, and then bonus content for syncing your account if you've also played/own Hogwarts Legacy and maybe that HarryPotter fan site (the one that granted bonus stuff in Legacy in its launch...I think it used to be called Pottermore?) . None of these except the Deluxe Edition involve paying for anything, but the Deluxe also includes an amount of gold you earn by playing the game which I am to understand are used to unlock content.

As far as the roadmap is concerned, it does appear there will be some sort of season/battle pass, but there's nothing noted as to how it will work as of yet. If they're smart, it will have no limited time and, if there is any sort of premium pass, once you unlock it you can complete its rewards at any time. There is also the question of how they plan to go about keeping a significant player base these days, if much of the game's content is predicated upon working with or against other players. I t would be smart to allow a free permanent "demo/F2P" mode with some limitations but still allowing players to progress. In any event, WB is at least making the right choice by not making it a F2P microtransaction filled live service, but we'll have to see if they are serious or this is only a "we won't announce the microtransaction plans until launch" style foul up. Time will tell...

I think Quiddich Champions would have been better as DLC for Hogwart's Legacy. They already had really good flight mechanics and everything built and ready to go. It probably wouldn't make them as much money as a new stand-alone game, but if this game isn't great it certainly could have been.

thats what i thought that was, they were talking about it, but is a completely separate game that should have had its own thread.

I 100% agree with this. I thought it was DLC until I read more …

I've never even watched any of the movies but at that price I decided to give it a shot and I'm enjoying it more than I thought that I would.

I'm sure that I'm missing some references but most seem to be fairly self explanatory and the world makes for a fun backdrop to the game. The game itself is nothing spectacular but so far it's a solid enough open world rpg which is a genre I enjoy so I'm willing to overlook some warts as long as there's some redeeming qualities as well.

Hogwarts Legacy Definitive Edition is in Development

Insider Tom Henderson reports that a Hogwarts Legacy Definitive Edition is coming in 2025...the new version of the game will include between 10- 15 hours of new content, including a story quest, more side quests, activities and new outfits...owners of the base game will be able to upgrade for $20 or $30...

Stupid name, should have just called it the Bonus DLC or whatever.

Seems like it is more or less an expansion, though it will only be bundled with the game. I assume they want to keep the price high. Article says you can upgrade if you already down the game, which is similar to buying the DLC. Seems like their idea is to keep the price high and sell it bundled with the DLC rather than start selling just the main game for $30 or so.

Just picked this up on a Steam sale, I have about five hours deep into it, and I got some thoughts. After coming off the Cyberpunk DLC I am not certain how I feel about this game.

On one hand I get this is rated 'T' for teens and if I were, at any level, a Potterverse fanboi this may do something more for me, but it all seems super shallow of a game. Crazy broad with a million fetch side quests, but just shallow in actual depth. It's starting to feel like a more dressed up version of one of the Lego RPGs like LOTR or Hobbit. Bite sized tasks, minimal fuss, low chance of failure, and some sort of reward I don't care for after.

There's also a number of emersion breaking interactions as I play. Day/night cycles only mean squat for background NPCs, some buggy triggered text, the lack of any impact for my actions, and an insane fast travel map.

Heck for a large chunk my character had masks like the two left children, crazy hats, jacked up cloths, and was absolutely looting anything not locked down and spam casting the reveal spell. No one cared I looked like an ADHD twitchy serial killer loot goblin so that's.. odd. Though once I figured out I can make gear invisible that course corrected things a bit.

Also, and maybe it's the systems orientated programmer in me, but this game really shows the McGuffin level patch that is magic in the Potterverse. The movies always made it seem fairly nonsensical, and this just is hammering that point.

Oh well. The main story line is interesting enough to continue and I am not having high hopes for the game to get any more complex than it already is.
