Ho do I block MySpace.com with Endian Firewall?

I don't understand what is going on with it. All I have going is the firewall ACL list... and no the transparent proxy nor regular proxy is Enabled.

I have added a DENY on the firewall for ip address range of 216.178.32.0:216.178.47.255 and the port range is 0:65535. Am I missing some formatting rule or something? It appears that it will not block any site. No matter what Name Server or Domain Server IP Address I put in... it will just not block it. But if I set port 80 to deny that works.

Proto______Source____Destination
TCP&UDP...ALL............216.178.32.0:216.178.47.255 : 0:65535

can you not just enter in myspace.com

myspace is now using international . endings...

myspace.ca
myspace.nl
et cetera...

when i ping myspace.com i get diff IP then you list

216.178.39.11

Already did plus I have .myspace.com for any subdomains and it still doesn't block. From what I understand the ":" is used for ranges. So 216.178.32.0 ":" 216.178.47.255 should include all IPs between 216.178.32 and 216.178.47 Am I missing something in the formatting? Do I have the ":" wrong??

I block MySpace from my PCs at the hosts file. It prevents Windows from exchanging any info with the server, as long as nobody goes and edits the file.

Find c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc (for WinXP; I'm not sure where to look on other versions) and back up the extensionless "hosts" file there. Then open the original with Notepad. Add this:

Code:

You will need to add new myspace subdomains as they create more, and if you really have a problem with MySpace addicts, you may also need to identify and block proxy sites that they use to bypass filters.

Edit- Sorry, I thought the name sounded interesting and looked and saw that Endian is for Linux. But I'll leave this post here on the off chance that Linux has a similar file for mapping IP addresses to hostnames. It looks like it does.

Thats not an option but thanks anyway for posting that. The problem is that Endian Firewall is not blocking anything period. And I can't come up with an answer as to why it won't block.
