Hmm Suggestions on This LCD

After you go under $300 for a 19" lcd it's pretty much a crapshoot what kind of quality you'll get. I don't believe Envision is one of the top makers and have no idea what kind of panel they use but it is surely a TN. It may be fine if you aren't too picky..

edit- I actually like the minimalist styling on that better than some expensive panels. :p

if anyone else has any input please share ^_^ thank you for the input joemama

You're better off going with a trusted name brand IMHO with a good dead-pixel return policy and warranty, the quality of electronics in the monitor is probably going to be a lot better. You'll pretty much be guessing on this off name model because you won't find any pro reviews on the net and since it's cheaper custumers reviews are usually less trustworthy too. NEC, Samsung, LG are great places to start looking and offer similar products with most likely better build quality too. It's really a question of how much you care about the details and how long you want to keep it.Then again it could be great, but remember, the monitor is cheaper for a reason and it's not just the name! edit: I just saw this a 19"widescreen monitor, trust me you're going to find it way too small! And this is almost most definately a TN and even their listed viewing angles look terrible (160 horizontal 135 vertical). Trust me get at least a 20" monitor or stick 4:3 or else you'll find the monitor too small vertically.

My 17 inch Envision CRT has lasted for 5 years. Yep thats right, this comment doesn't mean sh!t. :D

I think you misunderstood, I meant on sales sites like newegg not in an informed place like here lol. What I meant was people who buy entry level stuff are less likely to post enough decent reviews on the web and enough for them to be conclusive. That doesn't mean some people know what they're talking about. But your CRT might not even have been manufactured by the same company or even the same part of the world. Just because it has the same brand name doesn't mean they necessarily mean they made either, outsourcing to pretty much anyone is popular these days. You can't say a CRT maker that made good monitors will make a decent LCD anyways, just look at Sony.

True, but "Envision" probably uses a panel made by LG/Phillips, Au Optronics etc.. just like the big names but it could be a lower quality panel and as someone said the electronics driving the panel make a difference also. It may be just fine for the price but I would have to see one in person..

i bought the moniter at local staples, its excellent for my standards, the only problem is the bezel doesent swivel to make the moniter at a better tilt.. can i buy a new one so it will? but other than that no complants at all, good moniter and it looks nice on my setup
