HL2 Problem

When I start up HL2 I get "ai disabled..."

To clear some things up I have a legit copy of HL2 because it came with The Orange Box and I am running Vista 64. I tried editing the .cfg file and doing ai_disable 0 in the console but it still says "ai disabled..." Any ideas?
 
Well I already knew how to edit a cfg file but the second link was very helpful, thank you! However the problem still persists with all the workarounds... this is killing me... even though I've finished HL2 previously... I just wanna play all of the games one time through so the story is that fresh in my head...
 
Try this one too. I was looking up "AI is missing" in the search option and told it to look in the Help and tips area.

Its not exactly talkin about what your talkin about, but just the same, perhaps you did like this guy in the thread did, and had to restart the download of the game updates.
