hl2 doom3 ...

And please for the love of Kyle, let this thread die the needed death it needs. Nobody knows the answer, so go post elsewhere.

Doom3 and HL2 don't exist. They're vaporware.

Just like the Phantom console. All hype.

edit- nevermind, lol it would've been funny if it were still the 16th but someone had to bump it much to Torgo's dismay....

Aaaaargh! Torgo Smash! If I only had a stake to drive it into the heart of this thread!

If i had to guess i would say Doom 3 but thats just a guess. Its been stated in several articles that HL2 should run fine on most low-mid range systems just as the original half life did.

Well HL2 is a directX 9 game so it will probably be pretty demanding. Funny thing is that I have never heard anyone ever comment on the FPS of the stolen version. Anyway, probably D3 because D3 has unparalleled shadows.

Thats because were not supposed to talk about pirated versions on HardOCP :p .

Wait wait wait!!!! Me me me me!!!!!!! Please please, I wanna ask!!!!

SO WHEN DO THEY COME OUT?

Hehe :D

Move along, people, nothing to see here...

well if id sticks to their history, you will only be able to set the quality to about medium across the board and get acceptible performance at launch, so that as you get new hardware, the game gets prettier, of course, the fact that the development has dragged on so much may mean that the top of the line at release will be able to do better.

Doom III Date:
Best Buy has updated their shipping date for people that pre-ordered Doom III. The new date shown is July 13th, 2004. Now, conventional wisdom says that Best Buy is in contact with Activision and that is the date they intend on shipping the game. Though that seems reasonable, you never know until it actually goes gold. What is the id Software catch phrase again? “When it’s Done”. Thanks to everyone who sent this one in.

ehehe its kina funny cause July 13th is ma burfday  dat would be kool

I really look for Doom 3 and HL2 to both come out the middle of july like their showing up as now. Its part of the reason i never bothered to pre-order ither of these games. It also gives plenty of time to wait for some more hardware to come out before i do an overhaul on my system for these two games.

you know, i wish they would just initially give out crappy ass long away dates....like perhaps christmas 2004...that way, if by chance they get done before, there are no worries, and everyone gets happy.

Well they did initially for HL2 and with Doom 3 it's always been "When it's done". What more could you ask for?

Gah! I've been tricked into posting into this hated thread again. Damn it...

no, but 64bit linux has been out for a while, so just play DooM ]|[ on linux [assuming they do a linux port like they have with all their other games.]

ROFL.,..:D

oh wait... that WAS a joke... right?

gaming on linux.... the best reason to NOT upgrade your video card.

We should get somebody with no life to keep track of all the times people ask certain questions. I bet there's four or five that make up a majority of the posts on the entire board.

Yea then they could make a database that is searchable and will be updated with each new post.. That way we could all search to see if a topic has been discussed or is being discussed anywhere on the forum instead of posting more clutter!!

Oh wait.... that would be the disabled search function.

don't forget that doom3 will not see a 64 bit version, carmack himself said that it would be slower than the 32 bit version. ut2004 will have 64bit support though

I wouldn't worry about 64-bit support. 32-bit applications and games run poorly in the current Windows XP 64-bit and there is hardly any driver support. Maybe in 2 years there will be a desktop market for 64-bit but right now theres not. And who knows how long it will be before we need more then 4GB of RAM. I would hate to think someone will install a 64-bit OS to play one or two games that will actually support it.

eh, the biggest problem in that situation is the drivers. nvidia's 64 bit drivers are very beta (new ones released yesterday, should help a lot) and ati's don't exist. the situation is much better in linux land, where there are lots of people working on such things. Intel is largely responsible for the massive windows xp driver support, and without their official support for the x86-64 extensions until a few days ago, microsoft has, by and large, been required to write all the device drivers. now that intel has announced nocona things are definately looking better for the future windows for amd64. I find it ironic that intel is so important to the success of amd's architecture.
