Agreed, you might want to go through the reviews here: http://techreport.com/reviews/page.x?pg=storageElledan said:IBM's HDDs were considered to be pretty much the best thing one could buy before the problems with the Deskstar drives. Those problem have been dealt with, so those HDDs, even though they're now produced by Hitachi, should be just as good as they used to be.

IIRC, the 75GXP was the first generation to exhibit the problems. 60GXP is the next generation and 120GXP is the next one of the 60GXP.Talonz said:New HItachi running fast and quiet. Hard to beat for price/performance/capacity.
The problems were with the 60GXP generation, and possible the 75GXP (I forget). The 120GXP and all current models are reliable.
Correct. The 75GXP was the drive worst affected, closely followed by the 60GXP. The 120GXP never got anywhere near the 'dead-drives-per-month'-ratio of the former two.types.Xilikon said:IIRC, the 75GXP was the first generation to exhibit the problems. 60GXP is the next generation and 120GXP is the next one of the 60GXP.
