I have the Hitachi Touro Mobile MX3 2.5” Portable Hard Drive, USB 3.0, 1TB hard drive.

Even after I have chosen to Safely Remove this from my PC, I noticed the blue LED light on this hard drive is still on.

Is this a fault or is it designed to be like that?

"Safely remove" is an option to tell the OS - Windows to force any programs to finish sending all data to the drive in order for the disk to prepare itself to be physically unplugged.

If you do not do "Safely remove" and wait for the OK, then there is a chance that you might loose data a program is trying to save to it if you just unplug it.

"Safely remove" does not power off the drive. So yes, it is operating like it should in still being "on" after you "Safely remove" it.

"Safely remove" is not meant to power off the drive.
