Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Probably something else considering the much lower maximum platter density and the initial performance results found on 2ch:
HD Tune Pro 4.61
Read transfer rate
Transfer Rate Minimum : 85.0 MB/s
Transfer Rate Maximum : 172.9 MB/s
Transfer Rate Average : 132.2 MB/s
Access Time : 15.3 ms
Burst Rate : 223.7 MB/s
CPU Usage : 1.4%
Yet the performance is all-around nearly identical to Hitachi's 7K3000 with 667GB platters, and has lower sequential than the 7K1000.D with 1TB platters.
Fundamentally...yes. The platters are bigger than that to handle manufactuering defects, etc. But, it is correc to think of them as "1TB" platters. Sorta like CD's and you could "overburn"
