Hitachi 4TB 7k400 drive

Does anybody know if this 4TB 7200rpm drive runs on 1TB platters or something else?

Those benchs look inline with the performance given by seagates 1tb platters.

Yet the performance is all-around nearly identical to Hitachi's 7K3000 with 667GB platters, and has lower sequential than the 7K1000.D with 1TB platters.

Fundamentally...yes. The platters are bigger than that to handle manufactuering defects,etc. But, it is correc to think of them as "1TB" platters. Sorta like CD's and you could "overburn"
