I just got my HIS 4850 and up until today i did not play Crysis warhead. I started the game and im having issues with blue odd pixels and funny colors so i decided to turn the clocks down to a Stock 4850 625 from 650 and i left the memory alone and every runs great.

It doesnt so this on any other game but crysis. is it a concern and should I sent it back to newegg.

Sounds like it is overheating.

Open up CCC and watch the temps while playing the game if you have a second monitor available.

What kind of air flow do you have going through your case? The power supply fan is not going to be enough by itself.

I'd recommend using HWMonitor (which can be found here.) You can run the program in the background, it has minimum, average, and maximum temperatures so you'd know its max temperature after exiting the game.

ok thanks ill post up details in a few here. My Case is an unknown brand with 2 80mm fans in the back plus the power supply.

my pc specs
dual core 4450e
4gb ram
antec earthwatts 430
HIS 4850 Turbo (650/2ghz memory) Factory overclocked
640GB blue western digital HDD Sata

ok here is the Idle information. im about to run the temps while playing

I am going to assume you have the ICEQ Version.

If you do, I have had about 8 of these running Folding@Home which keeps the GPU at 100% load 24/7.

I would try going into the CCC and manually set the fan speed to 70-80%.

That will keep the GPU at about 60C at 100% load. That will help rule out / fix the issue if it is heat related ...

This will override the stock fan profile and keep the GPU much cooler.

ok here is some gameplay and Yes fold@home is installed. came with my ati drivers so i will uninstall it. i also put everything back on stock settings and its running fine now so i dont know what the issue is.

I think you mis-understood what I am saying.

I am running Folding@Home on my ATI Video Card ...

The ATI Driver package does install but DOES NOT RUN folding@home

I was suggesting manually setting your fan speed in the CCC.

You Video Card temps for an HIS 4850 ICEQ Turbo are higher then normal and setting the fan speed higher will fix that issue if it is a heat related issue.

right i got you but i didnt need it anyways so i uninstalled fold@home. i will try that here shortly with setting the fan speed higher. Should i be concerned that i have to do this in order to play a game?

should i return the card and try another one? from what ive read 65c isnt really that hot for a video card.

Should i be concerned that i have to do this in order to play a game? .

It is completely normal. They set the fan speed low to keep the noise down but it hurts cooling performance.

If you ever look at your card bios settings, you would see just how low they have the fan set until the GPU gets near 80C-95C...
When it starts to get that high, you can start to have more problems.

from what ive read 65c isnt really that hot for a video card

65C is not that hot at all for a GPU.
The ICEQ can cool its self off very quickly.

So it can hit 80C and the fan kick up and drop back to 65C in under 30 seconds.
The cooler is very good and does what it is designed to do.

Try the Fan Speed and report back if you get any graphic errors ...

ok i set it to 70% fan speed and was playing crysis warhead and the temps have dropped from 65c to 43c. so far no graphical errors. I also noticed that this card doesnt run like my 9600 gt oc did. i was able to play mainstream without a problem but now with the 4850 it seems choppy at times.

im not sure how to setup the 3d area. everything is set to use application settings/balanced. but im unsure of 2 things Catalyst A.I and mipmap.

ok i think i got this now. i got everything on application controlled except for mipmap wich is on Quality and i tryed all 3 settings for Catalyst A.I and Off runs like poop and standard. once i set it to Advanced my game runs 100% smooth.

Glad raising the GPU fan speed fixed that issue

The 4850 has a lot more power then the 9600gt.
I would suggest checking the settings in the game and also do a little searching a few forums to see if anyone else has/had this issue and how they solved it.
Should be something simple because the 4850 has a lot of horsepower under the hood.

well i also have a few things that limit me here also for full potential. my CPU and Ram. I thought the pc had 4gigs but it only has 3. im trying to upgrade now but money is an issue.

I went to incrysis.com forums and ive been reading the tech forums and im not the only one who has had these issues even with the errors that come up in console. so im almost certain its just my game.
