When I reformatted drives and partitioned them in the past, I usually used Hiren's Boot CD.

However, it seems like Hiren's Boot CD does not like SATA optical drives, which have played nice with my IDE CD drives in the past.

Whats a good alternative around this? (so I can finally partition off a few drives I have lying around :< )

If you are creating partitions, just do that with the OS disc during the install routine.

If you want to delete partitions, PartedMagic is free and will do so.

Hiren's BootCD is basically a no-no for discussion around here. Yes it has some useful - and completely free - utilities on it, but but but... the rest is warez sooo...

The suggestion for PartedMagic stands.

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't know :)

Is it still considered warez if you purchase legal copies of all the software? not saying I will spend that much freaking cash but stuff like ghost and others I do own.
