I don't want to spend much on a PSU, but then again, I want my new build to work.

This is the until in question: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16817174023

If not this, then this: http://www.newegg.com/product/Product.asp?item=N82E16817189005

if neither, then I'll get an Antec SP-500.

Yes the $25 difference matters.

The first one has 2x12v@20A, that's good right? I just don't know anything about them, or if anyone else has any experiences. They look to be a OEM mfg. primarily.

The new system is a DFI SLI Infinity, a single 7800GT, 2 HDD drives, and an opty 148 or a A64 3700+.

Thanks in advance for the guidance.

Kinda trying to stay >480w, I know it probably doesn't matter much, but that's what DFI calls for right? Anyone heard anything bad about HIPRO? The model number TOP-500P5 makes me think it's a toppower PSU. Aren't these similar to the Tegan/OCZ PSUs?

480w on a POS psu is not to be trusted.

Get the fotron. It'll run anything you have the budget for....

Wait, you're dropping over a grand on a system and are afraid to spend money on a good PSU that won't fry your components. Ok, its your call, I'm out.....

not afraid, just poor. It's not $1000 either, more like $700, but that's besides the point. I don't want to "take a chance." What I want to know is what I get, cheap, and not risk my equipment. That's why I'm going with the antec if it's going to be questionable.

I need to save some money where I can. That's why it's the 7800GT and not the GTX, it's why I'm getting the Infinity and not the LanParty, it's why I'm not getting the opty 170 that I want. It's gaming on a budget and I want to get what I need, and not much more. I can afford a good SLI PSU later on, but right now I have to get the cheapest that I can safely and reliably use.

EDIT: I have been offered a Tegan 480w (TG-480-U01) for $60 shipped, so this is also an option. Here is the first review I can across: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=177&num=1

It has 28A on the +12, that should be enough right? I like the sound of 20A on 2 12v, but I don't really care so long as it works and doesn't break anything.

I have a 300 watt hipro that came out of a HP 3.2 p4 system running a 64 3700+ sandy oc'd to 2805mhz and an EVGA 7800GT oc'd to 518 core and 1.19 mem, an 80 gig seagate sata hdd, an NEC dvd burner and 6 80mm fans, perfectly stable. I used to use the psu to run my dual lv 1.6 xeons oc'd to 3ghz on an asus pc-dl. Its a stout little unit.

Just because it advertises XX amps per rail doesn't mean it's going to supply that many amps all at once. That's 480W just on the 12V rail alone. You'd be lucky to get 2/3 of that out of the PSU under actual operating conditions.

The Tagan 480 is a great PSU. You can find a handful of reviews on it, and for $60 shipped it's a good price. I highly doubt the Hipro is a Topower for that price.
