Has anyone heard of this power supply? Hiper Type-R 580W Modular Power Supply. It's European however everything for for US computers, also SLI certified. Do you guys recommend this?

We've heard of it .After all, this IS [H]ard|forum.

It's a unit made by Andyson. So, it's pretty decent.

I'll let JonnyGuru, Spectre, Dave, and all the other awesome psu-gods that I always want to become include more.

I bumped Andyson up my recommended list after having a chance to look at their 700W and 800W units.

The Hiper has some issues, though....

1st. Everything is on 12V1 except for the CPU. That means you have 18A available just for the CPU (2 to 3 times more than any CPU actually needs) and only 20A available for the PCI-e connectors, hard drives, optical drives, floppy drives, motherboard slot power, motherboard fan headers, fans, lights, etc.

Also, the Coax connectors use less wire than what the connector on the other end is made for. For example: A PCI-e is three 12V leads and three grounds. On the Type-R, the PCI-e only has one 12V lead and two grounds. A 2x2 4-pin is typically two 12V leads and two grounds. The Type-R uses one 12V lead and one ground. Because of the resistance created by this, Hiper suggests that no more than 10A be loaded on any one modular connector. I'm sure that's a fudged number because personally, I can't see even 10A travelling down that single 18A wire without at least getting very, very hot.

Alright because I order the Hiper Type-R 580W Modular Power Supply from another website because Newegg didn't have it. I read some good reviews but I guess they weren't enough. Should I return it? It's suppose to ship in tomarrow. Thanks by the way

Oh and you know those "aviation" style plugs which are in the back of the P/S, are those safe?

Been using one for about 2 days..Works fine. Love the connectors
