i saw this PSU under the brand Hiper. i was wondering if anyone have heard of them and if they are a good brand.

Do a quick forum search in this sub-forum and you'll have every question you might have (and more you never thought of) answered.

They are ok. If you really like the looks of their supplys with the modular cables and other stuff they put on them, then you should be able to get by. If you don't think the looks is that amazing then you have better options.

i have the type r version (580watt) in black. THis is an awsome PSU at an reasonable price and looks great too

Andyson makes a good PSU normally. The Hipers are inflated for marketing purposes, have a couple of questionable design choices, and you are paying for the "bling".

Oh and search would have been immensly helpful ;)

I dont like them simply because they are remarked lower wattage supplies. They do work ok though and there are plenty worse.

Let's take a look at a Hiper Type-R "580W".

I'm currently reviewing one, but after having a marathon week last week I'm taking my time with the next few reviews......

The power supply is based on the Andyson AD-550 (as in 550W) and it does put out 550W no problem. Efficiency is a mediocre 75% average and there's no PFC.

I was surprised that Andyson was using Fuhjyyu's!!!!

There's also a couple JEE's in the mix (you can see one on the right)

I can't tell what the primary caps are....

But the navy blue color makes me think of Fuhjyyu's. Am I right?

The biggest issue the Hiper has, and the primary reason why I got one and took it apart, is the lack of one-to-one connectors on the modular interface:

Above you can see that 4-pins on the motherboard goes to only 2-pins on the power supply.

Below is a shot of the PCI-e connector taken apart....

Even though a PCI-e connector consists of three 12V and three ground, only two conductors on the power supply end of the cable are used! They don't use the third conductor at all.

And there's only one PCI-e. The other PCI-e is obtained by taking two Molexes and adapting them to one PCI-e:

Not "Fuk you its hot in here ahhhhhhhhh........"? ;)

That's how you pronounce A - N - T... never mind....

Hmm....So I already have one of these. Should I replace it??
I must of read at least 10 reviews of this psu and could not find any negitive ones.

Look at how the PSU was tested in those reviews?

Load tester? Nope.

High power system? Probably not.

The only PSU reviewer I see with a system that really kicks the guts out of a PSU is Nate and the gang over at Legit Reviews. Otherwise, they might as well review them like Hardware Secrets and XYZ and just take photos and write down specs from the manual. ;)

Should you replace it? No. Why? Wait for your PC to start locking up or for the PSU to fizzle out. No sense replacing a working product. The PSU does have minimal ripple and Andyson always makes sure the proper protective circuitry is in place, so it's not like you're going to destroy anything.
