We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.

Is this prog still useful at all? I haven't used it in a very, very long time and was considering downloading what ever new version TrendMicro has available. It used to deliver a lot of false-positives back when I used it, but I don't know if it's improved at all.

Thanks.

well that program is only useful if you know what to look for, you also oughta know what is the normal stuff in your OS, after all ring 0 rootkits are veeeeeeeery hard to detect

If you do use HJT, before you run it, change the name of the file to anything other than hijackthis.exe as some spyware and malware can and do recognise when the hijackthis.exe is executed and will either stop it from being run or will hide from it.

so change the name to anything so long as it doesnt remain hijackthis.exe or hjt.exe

But I also have to agree with stonecat, eset sysinspector is a great little piece of kit, much more powerful than hjt, also s.i.w does similar things but it isnt really meant for looking for malwar/spyware and such like.
