Highpoint Hpt374 RAID controller help needed

Is there any way to get the Hpt374 to use single drives in a non-raid array? I already have 2 drives on one of the four channels, so I know its is partly possible but I can't get my new 250 gb WD drive to work. Ive tried it on other channels on the controller and I've tried unhooking one of my current drives and replacing it with the 250 but no luck yet. Does it have to be formatted first? The strange thing is that the RAID Bios sees the drive but only when it is replacing one of the other drives. I can't just connect it to a channel alone and see it. Any ideas folks?

yes... easy... dont configure the drives as any arrays.

sounds like your problem is jumpering... jumper your drive as Cable Select. and make sure that your cables are good and support ata100/133.

Hope that helps.
