Just a quick question, more or less as the topic suggests.

I'm building a server as we speak and i can get the hard-drives and controller now. What i was wondering is whether the 1820a PIC-X will run in a legacy PCI slot. I know if it does itll go slower, alot slower and am expecting that, was just curious to wether itll work. The gap between getting the drives and the cpus is like 2 months so i thought may aswell start it up now.

I've read in some places that they are infact backwards compatible, but all these places were always a tad.....odd in different ways. Anyway, if you have any info on the topic any help would be appreciated.

Have a good one.

The thing to check is the voltage. Look at the bottom edge of the card and the slot you plan to use it in, and if they match then all is good.

It should be backwards compatible, should slide right into the pci slot, if it doesn't, won't work.

I agree with defakto, pci-x and pci is backward compatible with each other. I have a pci-x gigabit card, it seats just fine and works properly in the slot.
