highest performance for a 50W power draw?

I need a low power yet reasonable powerful video card for remoteFX on my server then likely in a media pc later.
Max power draw 50W
DirectX 10 or higher.
hdmi/dvi
low profile.
Low cost.

Which chipset would give me the highest performance for a 50W power draw?

you sir are correct.

Not sure if Amd plans to release more low end cards or not. Llano and sandy bridge both have integrated video, so there's not much of a market for low end cards, unless you want things like muti monitor support, 3d support, etc.

I picked up a gigabyte 6450 for 20$ with free shipping after mail in rebate yesterday.

cheap, power efficent, and well supports dx11 and latest hdmi spec, and 3d

Here is a thread just on the 7770. Don't see a power connector so I assume its under 75W


and the 6450 is way under 50W. Not sure if that is enough for you or you really do want the highest performance under 50W like you claimed but look here:

That chart really helped.
It looks like the 6670 would be fine also and more powerful.
I am not sure if I want to wait on the new cards but you have given me something to think about.

Yea that is something I am trying to figure out, in my server a fan might be needed but in the media box I don't want a fan.
In the server the card area doesn't get a lot of air flow.
 
will there be cards in the 7xxxx lineup that have same performance as high end cards now but draw less power, that interests me far morre than faster top end performance. eg. I would like to see a card capable of gtx460 performance but run on either none or one pci-e power cable.

Eventually. The 7750 will be around that performance level and has a rumored ETA of February. Below that is supposedly OEM only; but will probably show up in retail once the 6xxx stock is depleted.

Seems the 6670 is your best bet. I don't expect the 7750 to be below 50W as [thread=1662226]the 7770 has a 6-pin PCIe connector[/thread] so is above 75W.

well I wont be changing ym card, its just curioisity, is a 6670 really as fast as a gtx460?

that graph is aweful for nvidia.
 
I assume you are using server 2008 r2 for this, not sure if this is an issue any more with win 7 drivers nearly identical to 2k8r2, but Amd drivers may be of some concern in that environment although my experience is really related to the ATi es1000 chip. Last I read they were only officially supporting the quadro and fire gl series with remote fx.
