Will the Nf7 S2 support the XP3200? I found nothing definetive on their site to tell me yay or nay.

I've zero interest in overclocking, so getting a 2500 and OCing doesn't appeal. I'd rather just go for the highest my current setup can support.

Thanks

Yeah I'm almost 99% positive that a 3200+ will run properly on a NF7-S.

But man, buying a 2600+ Mobile and simply changing your FSB doesnt sound enticing to you? Cheaper and stuff?

But anyway, have fun w/ the new CPU, cheers m8.

Well, on pricewatch, a 3200 is only $117. I already have a Thermotalke fan thingy so i don't need retail.

A mobile 2600 is only 107. Not that much of a difference

Unfortunately, mobile Athlon XPs will not work correctly on the NF7-S2 motherboard. There is no multiplier adjustment at all whatsoever on that mobo. On a "400MHz" (200MHz actual clockspeed) FSB, the CPU may use a default PowerNOW(tm)-enabled multiplier of 9 on that mobo. As a result, it will only run at 1.8GHz. That would be roughly the speed of a stock desktop AXP 2500+. Any CPU that is to be used on the NF7-S2 must be multiplier-locked; otherwise, it will not work correctly.

whos ass did you pull that story out of eagle. i am quite sure i m running a moblie at 2.5 gigs right now. so you might want to think b4 you post.

He was talking about an NF7-s2 not the NF7-s rev.2 There is a big difference between the two.

What I said is (partially) true. The NF7-S2 has no multiplier adjustment at all whatsoever. This means that unlocked CPUs will not work correctly on that mobo - it will use only the lowest available multiplier.

On the other hand, the older NF7-S V2.0 had multiplier adjustments in its BIOS.

As I implied, both of those mobos are two completely different mobos, despite their similar-looking model numbers.
