Hey guys,

I have a Gainward GS6800GT, and it's running well at 420/1200. I want to go higher but everytime I up it just a single mhz and "Test Settings" on Coolbits it says failed, I know it can go higher... its running at a cool 50-58C idle and not above 80C under load...

Is there any way to apply without testing or something?

I have RivaTuner installed but... it looks complicated, any quick ways to get the OC?

Found it but it does the same, a single mhz higher and it "fails" the test..

hmm thats wierd. Maybe your card cant go any higher than that. That is deffinately a very big possibility. Not all of them go as high as others. Maybe try and get the NV 5 Silencer and see if it helps ya out. Other than that I dont know what to say, you have found its limit. I mean you could try re-installing the driver but not sure if that will really accomplish anything, but its worth a shot.

No way to like bypass the "Test?" I mean, its not a heat issue, not when im ldeling at just above 50C, with Riva Tuner it doesnt take even a second to say it failed, atleast with the coolbits it takes a few to test...

If only you could just force the OC.

can't force something that doesn't work lol

that is your max overclock

its not all about heat

manufacturing process, pick of the litter, pure luck

overclocking is taking the chip beyond what its validated for, so be happy you can get it that high

Don't you usually start getting artificts before the max though? Like if I go 1 single mhz over the core or 1 single mhz over the memory it "fails" the test, the "ExpertTool" that came with the card only goes up to 420/1200 but if i could make it go higher that may work.

have you disabled expert tool and then tried overclocking?

also, in RivaTuner there is a "Low Level Hardware Overclock" feature

I say myself, if you plan on trying to go any higher then that, you need to do something about those temps...~80c under load is FUCKING HOT...!

yyou used to be able to copy the krusty key in your registry into the bart key...this would let you OC even higher...if you can now I dunno
