Over the last week, I found my system (in sig) will run at either 3.15GHz (450x7) with ram at 900MHz or at 3GHz (500x6) with ram at 1000MHz (both 8+hours orthos stable). Which do you think would be better overall? I just use it for online work, some photo editting, and some gaming.

run benchmarks of the programs you use and see for yourself.

asking questions like this, are like asking which matress should you buy. Try it out yourself and see. Some benchmarks perform differently than others at different FSB, ram, cpu clocks, etc.

But generally speaking:

CPU clock is most important, so # 1 max out your CPU clock.

2nd most important is FSB speed, higher FSB = lower latency & higher bandwidth = higher performance

LAST is ram speed. Generally the Core2 and X2's have plenty enough memory bandwidth already, so its far more important to raise your CPU clock & FSB first
then optimize your timings/ratios at what ever speed you can get your ram up to.
