Arggghhhh! I want to get a new card because Far Cry is taxing my system pretty well. However, I cannot find one anywhere.

I don't care which I get, either the X800 XTPE or Geforce 6800U.

This thread is a place to post links to vendors who either have them in stock (wishfull thinking) or are soon to have them. Preferably a good price too. $600 for a video card is nuts regardless of the performance.

everybody seems to be on backorder, or they dont have it. dont think your gonna get a X800 XTPE or Geforce 6800U in the next couple of days, im sure it might be a few weeks. i could be wrong tho.

You could always get an X800Pro and mod the sucker. Theres an interesting article on that linked via the [H]ardOCP home page. I think I'll go home and check those numbers out myself.

Well, I checked Compusa's site and it does appear that they have them in stock. Are the PNY cards decent? I've never had one. Also, I've never ordered anything from Compusa online, so I am not sure about their reliability. According to resellerratings, they are absolutely horrible.

Tough call. $500 is a lot of money to spend on something from a shady place such as CompUSSR. lol

Screw it. I bought a Visiontek X800 Pro from Outpost.com.

I got next day so it'll be here by noon tomorrow. Does anyone think I made a mistake judging from my current sig? I am getting an A64 3400+ and a MSI NF3250 soon unless the prices drop on the 3700 or 3800+ or even the FX53.

I read about modding the x800pro to the x800xtpe so I will look at the core to see if I can, if so, then I got a x800xtpe for $412.00.

Well someone on NVnews reported that a CSR told them the cards were not shipping in 24/48 hours and wasn't sure if they were ever in stock or not. It's starting to sound like the Gateway X800XT mess I got caught up in.

Well I got that right now - that card overclocks well and I got it at a stable 550/550. I can run Far Cry at 1600x1200 with 8AF/4AA and the framerates generally stay in the 40+ range, and the minimum it gets on occasion is the high 20s so I find this very playable.

AA is not a big deal @ high res try using less AA and i bet you get a minimum much higher

looks like we wont get the XT's until late june or july :(

I just got off the phone with ATI directly. The x800XT HAS NOT been publically released and WILL NOT for an estimated 2-4 weeks. I asked well then how is retailers like GW distributing them and their response was "are you sure they are not selling the x800 pro as the x800 xt has not been distributed. If they had been already distributed then we (ATI) would have them for sale or backorder on our (ATI's) website online store."

I will and so wont ATI will be amazed if GW can actually provide a s/h tracking# for any orders GW claims are completed and will be recieved in 3-5 business days.

Sorry for the bad news, but I hope it calms some nerves down a little.

paper release you say?

I hope that I didn't get ripped off then. I will be royally p***ed off. AllStarshop will get an earful from me.

I already ordered a x800xt and it's on it's way here. Granted I paid too much for the card, however my 9700 pro died. For the moment I'm stuck with my secondary computer which isn't good for much more than E-mail and web surfing. When I ordered it was only 550.00 which is a lot but I need Farcry back.

Maybe it's the BBA cards that arn't shipping ? I've seen someone else who had a pre-order for the Saphire at Allstarshop, mention that he received his tracking #. I'm currently talking to someone on another forum as his Abit is about to ship and he may transfer it to me, as he has other pre-orders pending.

Earlier Zipzoomfly Abit RX800XTs (X800XT PEs) were reportedly shipped today with an ETA arrival time of around the 10th depending on how you ordered. Thats when we will see hte first batch of impressions and user reviews I'm guessing.

Just a note - BestBuy.com is no longer taking preorders for the X800 XT Platinum - it appears that they've yanked it from their site altogether --

Mistake...of course not. ;)

But I've been playing on my Inspiron 8200 w/GeForce 4 Go MX440 (thats = GF2)
and the coolbits overclock hack are on.

I've only played FarCray @ 640x480 NO AA, NO AF fps~15

So whatever card (Ultra or XT) will be well invested. ;)
