I love high res displays. I enjoy my macbook pro at 1920x1200, but I'd love something a ton higher. What are my options?

So far I've found 30" apple cinema display: http://www.apple.com/displays/
its 2560 x 1600.

Do you know of anything bigger?

thanks!

I am only aware that 24'' and 26'' most commonly use 1920x1200 native resolution.

Native meaning it looks best by default at that resolution and quality degrades if you adjust outside that resolution.

the 30'' most common use 2560x1600 resolution. But your going to need very powerful dual graphics card setup to have enough power to get good frames rates in games such as Crysis. This was one reason i stayed away from the 30'' segment cause i am not gonna be spending more money on graphics card for that sort resolution when i am just fine sticking with 1900x1200 on a 24'' or 26''.

For PC monitor i haven't heard of a bigger size then 30'' :X higher is probably HDTV Lcd monitors. Maybe someone else can advise you.

You won't find anything higher resolution that isn't aimed at professionals. You won't be playing games with them and normal desktop usage will be difficult due to the high pixel density. You may also need to purchase a workstation graphics card to run it at the full refresh rate of 41/48hz (depending on the model). If that isn't a problem, IBM made a 22.2" 3840x2400 LCD (there is a Viewsonic rebranded one too). Good luck finding one in decent condition (if at all). Models are: IBM T221; Viewsonic VP2290b. Here is a comparison next to a 30" ACD: http://stfcc.org/bluefox/misc/monitor.PNG

Exact, but soon with ultraHD with hdmi 1.4 resolution 4096×2160 (24Hz) and 3840×2160 this will set up a new deal, having a full hd as monitor with a resolution max to 1920x1080 not good atm but with ultra hd we have the possibility for a bigger panel with high pixel density, no more upscaling, no recession. nice :D ?

2560 x 1600 is the way to go. Well... It's the only way to go if you're looking for the highest resolution. If I were you I'd cough up the dough for the 30" cinema display just because it's match your mac. (and its supposed to be a good display for pretty much everything but gaming)

*edit*
wow I totally owned myself... lol didn't read the posts above mine before posting myself. Yeah 2560x1600 is not the highest then.

I'd save your money for a better Display. The Apple 30inch has long outlived it's life cycle and spending money on outdated but premium priced tech is just plain stupid.

Apple occaisionally updates the panel in their monitors without mentioning it so it might not be as out of date as you think. Also the Apple monitors are the only 30" standard gamut ones available. I would pay more to not have to deal with gamut issues.

I do not disagree about cinema display, but it'd be better if you state your needs. Exactly what are you using the big displays for Rob?

If you are not in crucial need of color reproduction and connectivity is what's desired, Dell's 3008wfp will get you bang for the buck. I can't honestly suggest using cinema display for only browsing.
If you really need color reproduction in graphics design, then take a hard look at the NEC, Samsung and Eizo offerings.
