I am looking for a high quality netbook so i could carry it around for work in case i need it. I wont be playing any games or anything on it might watch a movie if i go out of town or something but thats it.

i was looking at the ASUS-AUTOMOBILI LAMBORGHINI Eee PC VX6, but i am open to any opions and thoughts .

thanks in advance

I would wait for more of the AMD Fusion power notebooks to come out.
If you need one now, the DM1 from HP will beat up on an Atom power netbook pretty nicely, and it does it far cheaper than that computer. I couldn't fathom spending 700 dollars on an Atom powered netbook.

I think this is the laptop that Misan-thrope is referring to -- $450

The AMD Fusion tech he mentions is quite new, so more netbooks should be coming out with it soon. I don't know enough about it to comment on it's capabilities for what you need it for (it might be overkill and you could do with something cheaper) compared to others but it seems a solid/popular choice at the moment. And as the previous poster said it's cheaper than the Asus you were considering.

i dont mind spending max 800$ i just want a high quality notebook and thinking about it if it could play movies it will be a plus since i am going on vacatoin this summer and i have a 9 hour plane ride it could be usefull

is the dm1 better then lets say a dv5 which comes with an i3 just curious

thanks

It isn't going to be as fast as an I3, but it will be faster than an Atom

And in the Ion vs. ATI video, they seem about equal, with a bit of a lead towards the Ion in games, no difference in video decoding.
The Asus is a nice machine, I just can't fathom spending that much for a pretty case, I would rather put that money towards an SSD which would be a quantum leap ahead and considering you would still have money left over with a DM1 + 128gb SSD, I just don't see the advantage in the lambo netbook at this time, AMD's fusion I think is gonna be gettin the prices nice and low.

It's not as fast as a dv5, but it's more than fast enough to play back 1080p video whether flash based or stored on the hard drive. The gpu that's coupled with the cpu supports the latest video decoding for HD video, you should have no problems if that is the main reason for the notebook, and it is cheaper than dual core atom / ion combos I have seen so far.

The graphics power of the dual core atom / nvidia ion combo machines is slightly more powerful, but just barely, on the cpu side reports are the fusion chip from AMD is considerably less "sluggish" feeling than the atom.

Go with the dm1 or some other alternative with the new amd fusion chips over ANY atom based netbook. There is zero compelling reason to get any sort of atom based computer now imo.

For battery life reports are around 6.5 hours with wifi on and normal use on the dm1. there is a review on endgadget if you are curious. If you need to last a 9 hour flight, get a second battery and that should cover you for 13 hours.

You can get an HP Elitebook or Dell Latitude thin-and-light off corporate lease with 2 years left on warranty within your budget, and it won't be a useless netbook.

ive got an asus 1005pr I can slang you for cheap. its atom base, but has a discrete video decoder that allows full hd playback, while you arent going to be able to game with this. it does mean you will be able to watch around 10 hours of video on a single charge

Could get a used Macbook air. Would be perfect but, I know how poeple berate apple hardware around here.

Used or refurb Thinkpad X201. i3, tough as nails, and it's a Thinkpad.

If you aren't going to do anything amazingly hard.... why not an Acer Netbook? I've used those both for work and for in car applications...they are cheap and get the job done!
