High pitched noise

I just installed my new i7 920, EX58-UD5, and 12 gb of G.Skill 1600Mhz ram last night using my existing HX620, 4870, and 300gb HDD last night with no problems. Everything seems to run fine but as of today I'm noticing a high pitched noise coming from perhaps the motherboard as well as another high pitched noise whenever I move my mouse. Now both of these noises are only heard when I'm not gaming. I've tried Crysis: Warhead, Day Of Defeat: Source and World of Warcraft and the noises stop as soon as the game opens up, any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hmm..you know I got that high pitch noise on my older system with my Athlon 3000+ using a generic 300watt FSP PSU. I would hear it when i scroll with the mouse or it's just there period. It was the PS. But, your Corsair HX620 should be no problem powering your Core i7 build. Unless, that is something is acting up with your Corsair PSU or, the mobo is having an issue. Maybe a capacitor on the mobo? Or, maybe it's one of your case fans or PSU fan is making the high pitch noise due to the bearings in the fans that's causing the noise.

Yeah I reformatted my computer too just in case and the noise is still there. I'm assuming it's the motherboard, I'm thinking about emailing gigabyte.

Software is not the problem dude, I'm betting it's the Corsair PSU first and foremost.
My advanced RMA should be coming in next week, I'll let you know how it goes. If you read my threads on this, I talk about how I confirmed it was the PSU by taking my GPU (which some claim to be the source of noise) to my friend's house.

If it was the GPU, the GPU would make noise in any system. Period. It made nary a peep in my friend's setup. His PSU was not a Seasonic-based one (PCP&C Silencer, Corsairs, Antec), but an Enermax Modu82+.

*hmm, I should revise my post. My issue is during loads - you hear it when you're idle though...perhaps not PSU based, but motherboard based then?

If you have a used paper towel roll or even a roll of paper, I'd confirm it. Move it around so you can see if it's getting louder or quieter.

I took my system out of the case and set it up on my desk to isolate the parts better and was able to confirm the noises were coming from my psu so I just went out and bought a new one(TX650) to see if that would fix it and I'm still getting the same problems.

I really don't know. The TX650 should be a CWT vs. the Seasonic that's in the HX series. However, both are Corsair PSU's. I wish I saw your post sooner - I would have suggested getting the 625 Enermax Modu82+ my friend had. This is b/c I confirmed, in person by ear, that his system exhibited no noise at all. OTOH, he did have a different mobo (IP35-E) but I don't see how a mobo can affect a PSU's ability to screech - whether at idle (your case) or under load (my case).

I should have thought to have gotten something other than a Corsair psu but the selection at my Fry's isn't that amazing and I wouldn't think all Corsair's would do this. It now seems that the idle screech has possibly vanished and now I only hear it when I move the mouse.
