I have a high pitch whine coming from my custom high pc. Don't know what's causing it. Most people would point towards a cheap psu. But I have a Corsair hx750...it's not cheap.

I can hear the high pitch noise "bleed through" to the speakers. I can also hear it just by listening with my head close to the pc. There is no way to isolate the sound just by listening.

thanks for any help...

Try popping the side off and using a paper towel tube on your ear to focus the sound, moving it around to different components. It sounds like coil whine from parts resonating from certain electrical frequencies. Most often it comes from PSU or mobo. If new, it can be possible to get an rma on the culprit parts because of the noise, though that may not fix it if they are identical components

Try and narrow down the cause and then see what kind of options you can get from the reseller/ manuf to remedy it

I suffer from the whine, too, it comes from my mobo :( even after working I.T. in a carpet plant that killed a good bit of my hearing it still bugs the heck out of me

I'll try the cpu power saver setting mentioned in the anantech thread. Thanks for the links!!

Had the same issue with a Corsair HX series PSU. Disabling that stuff in the Anandtech article sorted it out nicely.
