Ok we need a booster that will push the wireless signal (outside in an open area) much farther. Ideas?

We could put one on top or the side of the building. I just didn't know what I could use and if you could hook them to a linksys router or would need something more powerful.

They sell a whole slew of high gain antenna's on ebay. Just make sure the router is reverse SMA (most likely is) and that the antenna supports it. You don't really need to get a new router, unless there is a ton of people using the wireless that it bogs it down.

Also check the vertical/horizontal planes, make sure what you get can actually cover what you need to cover.

Well it just needs to push as far as possible. Its just a big open field really.

If you are looking at replacing your router with a more powerful unit check this link out: www.microtik.com

For antennas and cables check out www.highgainantennas.com.

Hope this helps.

any idea if one of these antenna's (listed under 2.4ghz) would work well at extending the range of my router at my house? That is, is it worth it to spend (maybe) $20-30 on these guys? -(instead of creatively cabling my main room to extend my router further toward the middle of the house)

note: i'm just using one of the regular old linksys routers

Unfortunately wireless is not an exact science, or if it is I haven't found the secret of it yet. But the higher the DBi gain on the antenna the better it's signal will be. Keep in mind walls and other object will affect the wireless signal significantly.
