High fsb=time travel?

I used to run my 3.0c at 3.3g @ 220fsb. Recently I've been able to raise that to 3.75g @ 250fsb and beyond. Is it normal for your system clock to run fast since the system is so oc'd? I never noticed before but now I'm probably gaining 1-2 minutes a day. As of this writing I'm 6-7 minutes in the future. Not a big deal, but just wondering.
 
Are you sure what you are timing it to isnt running slower every day? :D

My computer has no problem keeping time, especially since it regularly updates itself to the atomic clock. I'm not sure what your problem is.
 
I would try to sync with a goverment time server and see how far off you clock really is. But then again, you already know what I was going to say here because you read it 6 minuits ago... :p
 
There you have it, if you are running software that syncs your clock automatically, you wouldn't see your clock drift. He probably isn't using a syncing software.
 
Your correct, I'm not using a syncing software. But, I've never had this problem before either. Can someone get me a link?

Hmm, sounds like your high fsb is causing a sub-space temporal distortion around your computer. Whatever you do don't kill your grandmother or you won't be around 6 minutes in the future to sync your machine with a time server. :)
 
I think the time sync built into Windows XP (maybe 2000 as well) should do fine. Double-click the clock in your system tray and click the "Internet Time" tab. Choose one of the .gov entries in the Server drop-down menu, and make sure the checkmark is ticked on.
 
When I ran my computer at 10x220 it would gain time at about the same rate. I had to start using clock syncing software. I'm now running at 11x200 becaues overclocking caused sound to stop working in games after about half an hour. Damn NForce2 bug!
 
One time... at band camp.... I overclocked my computer to 5Ghz.... and I opened up the web-browser and I noticed the pages that I opened were from dates in the future. Somehow, I had opened up a time portal. Anyway, I got the PowerBall Lotto #'s for August 14th 2007 before the computer crashed. Now I just need to wait 3 years to cash in. :)

86,400 seconds in a day, multiply that by 1.21 jigga watts and you can move forward in time no more than 1 hour and 13 minutes. Unless you water cool, then it is totally different

my clock also runs quick after o/cing it. I must sync it nightly, and it's several minutes ahead each time.
 
Nah, it's all about overclocking the onboard computer in your car and hitting 88mph. Screw that whole flux capacitor crap. The best part is, teh easy way to get back is to just sync it back up.
 
Sync your clock to time.microsoft.com. That's what I use, and even with a pretty decent O/C, it never ran time faster. Although, maybe I want to put some whiskey in there to age it real quick-like. :p
 
Overclocking is a fairly safe procedure. However be extremely careful underclocking; it is far to easy to accidently negate your own existance.
 
and NEVER run an overclocked machine next to an underclocked machine, the ensuing black hole will swallow the entire galaxy
 
anyone want to make a circle of computers that are all under/overclocked? maybe if we get enough we can open a worm hole and then travel to the future and retrieve us some 4 ghz dual core AMD 128-bits and some ati x10900XTs! :cool:
 
I did some benchmarks with an identical system and some other math and found out what is actually happening here.

The electronic signals of all things are intrinsically bound into the fabric of the universe. Somehow, you've found a way through some "universe BIOS tweak," if you will, to run your personal universe time at a ratio divider with the universe time of the computer while you both occupy the same space. In other words, your human:computer universe time ratio divider is somewhere around 720:721, while your space ratio divider is still 1:1.

This phenomenon is responsible for the perceived "overclocked" effect of the computer, since you are moving through time slower than it. I was able to prove this by running some popular benchmarking software on your identical configuration. While the "overclocked" test runs seemed to complete in less of my personal time as confirmed by a stopwatch, the scores remained the same.

This seems to be easier to acheive on Intel platforms with low multipliers and smaller manufacturing processes than AMD. The Mac's I tried it on suddenly morphed into Apple IIe's when I applied identical settings. I also tried a PDA with a hampster and the hampster seems to be aging a bit slower. Multi-processor platforms have not been tested yet. A rep from ASUS said that his company is working on implementing a "UNIVERSE Lock Free" function in future BIOS releases of select motherboards.

The upside is that you will perceive an increased framerate in games, and you will experience less "wait time" when compiling and rendering.

The downside is that your computer components will seem to die sooner than expected.

As for the time travel, if the space of a huge long distance is moved at faster speed than the speed of light momentarily (warp), we can travel in time as NASA and Semjase are describing about the time travel. But we can travel in time in the same space only by using the computers in spaceships or underground bases of the earth. Once we decompose the material into atoms by the computer, we preserve the material's data in it. We can reproduce the material with the material's data after we travel to the future or past time with them. So then, it is a doubt whether this can be called time travel or not.

Wow, I wasn't aware this was an nForce2 bug.... I always blamed my Audigy2 and Creatives buggy drivers.
I'm also running an Asus A7N8X with a Barton, but mine is a vanilla board at revision 1.6. I forget exactly what my OC is but 2500 @ 3200 sounds about right. In my case, it takes 3-4 hours before the sound bugs out, so it doesn't happen much.

Yeah, my system clock would be fast at even 200x11.. Thanks for the thread guys.. Good info
 
Okay... now I know what my problem is... too many people OC'ed. Explains why that damn ol T'Bird 1333 machine in my office just won't die. The space/time continuum is out of whack, caused by all the oc'ers, causing my archaic system to live on and on... despite lightning strikes, graviton bombs, and that really really odd purple glow it emits at night...

Of course, the TV saying "They're here" probably doesn't help much... but then, neither does my house being built on an ancient graveyard by Satanic witches.... Hmmm...

Must move. Soon.

i thought that it was impossible to travel faster than light(in vaccum)?

well anyway, i once had my ram at 210FSB, that was until i noticed i was slowly slipping into the future. i woke up one day and went downstairs and saw myself playing ut2k4 :eek: . then my comp BSOD'ed and all of a sudden i started to disentegrate :mad:


now im stuck to only using my unlocked barton for multiplier OCing, damn geil value series cant FSB overclock at all :( at least my comp has drifted into the unknown with it, my time hasnt gone any faster

Theoreticly, it is possible. It is only impossible for an entity to accelerate to the speed of light, be it accelerating from a slower speed up to the speed of light or accelerating from faster than the speed of light down to the speed of light. There are theoretical particals called tachyons(sp?) that have been grounded by theory, but have yet to be observed (partially due to the fact that they would be traveling backwards in time).
 
I'm sorry to ressurect this dead thread, but I think I have solved the problem. My computer was also speeding up time, but it only started doing this when I plugged it into the dorm network system. Here is what I found:

Go to the run command and type in services.msc

Find "Windows Time" and stop the service.

It hasnt traveled through time since I stopped this service, works great now. Thanks MS for implementing the random clock changing program into windows!
 
hmm, thats kind of weird. windows is supposed to sync the clock up with a time server to keep the clock accurate, not fuck it up
