Anybody on here have experience with scanning massive stacks of various sized documents? Where I work currently they scan in thousands of pages of received mail every day. The condition of the pages is often pretty bad and the sizes are pretty random.

They're used to using a Canon DR-7550C which the direct replacement/upgrade would probably be the Canon DRG-1130. I have been working on getting them towards doing this in a more automated fashion. I made software to split the PDF's based on a QR code on the forms which often has several other pages with it such as birth certificates and just splits every time it comes across that QR code.

Part of me wants to just have them order a Fujitsu FI-5950 and walk away... getting them to scan multiple files at once was a headache. There shouldn't be anybody sitting around scanning documents all day long.

The problem with the current scanner is the image quality isn't very good and it really can't handle large stacks properly. The multi feed detection isn't good enough.

We have a Canon DR-G1100 where I work. It was not aligned properly when we first got it.. probably due to shipping from my guess.

Once the Canon people got it working properly it has been fine.

Our old numbering scheme (a sticker on each page) will mess with any scanner. If you have something like that it won't work properly.. but if you just have stacks of paper, it should work just fine.

Pretty sure we haven't had rescanning problems due to missed pages.

The image quality is just as good as our big copiers.

We have a little QR code on everything that we mail out. They fill out the form and return it to us along with any supporting documentation that is needed. So we have verification forms splitting every "file". We use that QR code to determine which person the files belong to and auto file it and any documentation received.

Does that 1100 have to deal with variety in the stacks like postcard sizes and stuff like that randomly sprinkled in? probably a good like 80% only send in the legal sized sheets of paper but enough have random sizes that it cause problems with loading
