Hey guys I just got a replacement display I'm getting mixed messages with acceptable bleed is or what I should expect. I'll post a picture later but can you show me pictures of what should be acceptable.

For my knowledge, even high end IPS will have a lil bit of bleed ?

^^^ Thread is useless without telling us what kind of screen you have.

That being said, I got a BenQ BL3201PH. Although it is an IPS, which means it DOES have backlight bleed, it's almost unnoticeable, especially if you have the screen calibrated, which I have. Black point is crazy good.
 
There is no acceptable level of backlight bleed. It's all unacceptable. Bring on the OLED monitors.

Holy FUCK let's get off LCD now.
 
Does it bother you when using monitor normally?

More opinions I get the better, this is my second S2716DG Dell 27" 1440p G-sync the first one had a dead pixel. You see the blue light coming through on the right side / bottom right and top left. I haven't purchased a new monitor in 7 years and never spent this much on one so I want to make sure it great. I'd exchange this monitor but with the current exchange and being that I purchased it on Black Friday I can't get a better deal on a 2k G-sync monitor. I'd honestly feel like I'd run into a return cycle with another brand all the same. But you guys who have more experience with displays likely have more info.

Have you adjusted it to tftcentral settings ? I remember whites being really aggressive on mine until I did it.
 
Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat as you. No matter what you do, LCD tech is plain and simple BS. Some are better than others, but you literally will have to ACCEPT some form of flaw. It's up to you to decide to what degree.

The good news is that the end of LCD tech as the main player in the market is near now that a few OLED monitors have just been announced.
 
That backlight bleed looks fine. You are never going to win if the goal is to find a flawless monitor.
 
The thing that bothers me most is this weird mark in the middle when the screens black. Looks like pressure was put in a sideways ( ---- ) type mark. It's hard to take a picture of but when the screens black right across the middle of the screen is like this mark.

On my screen which I have calibrated with an Xrite Pro, I can see the mark clear as day.

It obviously bothers you. Return/exchange it. That's the only way to take care of it; it's not going to go away on its own.

Just keep in mind what everyone has been saying. LCD tech is flawed by nature. There will never be a perfect panel. You will have to live with some flaw. The degree to which is up to you. My screen's right side is not as bright and is colder in color temp as the left side. The first screen I got was terrible; I sent it back to Amazon, got a replacement, and the replacement still has the same issue, but to a much less degree. In other words, I can live with it.

Sucks, but until OLED tech becomes mainstream, it is what it is.
