Both ATi and Nvidia seem to be having big issues with yields for the 6800 ultra and the X800 XT PE. Some say that they're trying to increase the clock speeds to beat eachother with sufficient yields. I doubt that either is actually trying to get higher clock speeds. I think it's more of a fact that they're trying to get some sort of mass production of cards at the currently offered speeds.
Getting your hands on either of these cards is very unlikely for somewhat reasonable price. Even the X800 pro's are insanely priced, mainly due to lack of supply.
To me, not only did both companies come out with paper launches (yes, ATi did it too), but neither look to be actually producing what they've promised. My prediction is that the 6800 Ultra and X800XT cards will always be found in low supply, and only at extremely high prices. The 6800 GT and X800 Pro cards will probably be as high as anyone should go, without A) Spending many hours attempting to find a place that actually has one in stock, and B) Spending way too much money buying it. Unfortunately, I don't think this will change either. That's just my prediction though.
Please post any other comments that you have.
