If a hard drive is disabled, would virus', spyware ect be able to infect it? I would like to setup a couple of windows installations (and/or Linux), and wonder if I disable a drive or partition from within the OS, can it be written to? I am considering running one gaming setup, one for browsing and messing around with demos and stuff. Just curious, thanks.

You maybe able to disable the ATA channel where the hard drive resides. Thats probably going to be your only option without 3rd party software. Nothing is guarenteed though with viruses. If the drive is powered and hooked up properly, software can be written to access it.
