Hidden Easter Egg In DOOM's Soundtrack?

I saw a post about it on Reddit. Lots of people were recreating this in their own softwares.

More than likely legit. As for how they found it, hidden images like that sort of sound like bursts of modem noise, so if there seem to be repeating patterns of something that sounds like what lifting the phone up when you were connected to the internet or a BBS over dialup, it's a good indicator that there might be something hidden in a spectral analysis of the audio!

Totally awesome, and it reminds me of the hidden ghost in the Poke'mon Lavender Town music back in the late 1990s.

So wait... are they talking the original 1994 Doom or the recent release (aka 'Doom 4').

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around it if it's the 1994 Doom, because I could swear all of that was MIDI based.

Most likely the new Doom.

just checked it out guys, its real. hahahaha HAIL SATAN \m/

Seems like an odd easter egg. I'm not an audio engineer but it seems like a lot of work for something most people won't see. Well, until it's posted on Reddit and spread everywhere I guess.

^ I'm not about "hailing" anything but, you have to like this from a Doom game. I mean, c'mon!

Yeah, and it's still disturbing. Sorry, but I don't have a "burning" desire to spend eternity in hell.

Oh I agree with you 100%. I'm a Christian, and I didn't mean for my post to sound like I'm saying something along the lines of "pft - this is everywhere these days, what's the big deal?" I was just pointing out that it's in more spots than people realize.

I'm sure it was easy to hear if you listened to the music by itself instead of having all the game noises added to it. It's exactly as you described: just random noise bursting in at certain frequency ranges.

Electronic watermarking. They do the same thing with DVDA/SACD/BluRay

The noises added is picked up on FFT but non-visible/audible to humans because the spike is so brief.

Wait, you actually believe in that stuff? :D

Yes, a lot of us do.

I have no interest in immersing my mind in this imagery for hours on end no matter "how good the graphics" are.
I find it disturbing and sad that focusing on such evil imagery is now "entertainment".

.

Well the people who put this satin stuff in their products sure do, and that's a lot of them! In short, yeah, I do.

You put a soft silky fabric in all your products? You sell lingerie?

Hail HYDRA!

People will be upset with this like they were with rock music (play it backwards and you can hear the Devil!), Dungeons & Dragons, etc..

It's just people creating stuff that looks 'cool' for entertainment. No evil, no Devil is involved. Just people.

Well actually I'm fairly sure that people who put this stuff in the game did not believe in it. They would be scared to put them there if they did. Or mentally unstable if they did believe and still put it there.

But...this should definitely be the game for you then...because you're a Demon slayer. The passive narrative that's in the game proclaims that while in Hell, you were the baddest MF of all time and demons were literally scared of you because you kicked so much demon ass.

pretty standard stuff if you are familiar with sound design... I probably did this 15 years ago with free software...

I never understood the complaints about satanic imagery in games where you're playing a character with the sole purpose of beating the snot out of satan. When diablo came out, people complained about that yet the entire premise of the game was fighting the devil. Same thing with doom, you stop an attempted invasion by the forces of hell and spend the entire game killing demons. It would only make sense that when you go to hell to kick satan in the taint, he's going to have the place decorated to look like hell and not coated in sunshine and rainbows. Most games can't claim to have a premise that falls in line so well with christianity like doom.

actually shows how he "corrupted the pure sine waves of the music"
I love the music but that explanation was really cringe-worthy... dude, you just applied some effects to sine waves like almost every other electronic artist does, stop trying to sound like you did something revolutionary... then again, he seemed genuinely geeked about it all so maybe he just learned about it by accident or somethin... again, cool music so big props to the guy

But saying he "corrupted the pure sine wave" makes it sound more Doom-y :p.

I get the angle of being a demon slayer, I really do. And I even tried to use that to legitimize buying the game in my mind.
I've been a gamer for many years and get the cool and fun factor of the game. I played Doom 1 & 2 and all of the Nazi
killing stuff in the Wolfenstein games, etc. This game however takes the evil imagery to another level from what I've seen.

The imagery of this game just sickens me. If it were just "killing monsters" without all of the satanic imagery, it would be
very easy for me to buy this game and enjoy the fuck out of it.

I'm not a very good Christian really, but trying. I've learned that it does matter what I focus my attention on.
I'm not likely to give up booze, pron, or loud rock music anytime soon though.

This is just my view on this.... I don't want to be preachy about it.
Everybody has their own free will, and many will view this differently.

lol...

*Spartacus at the pearly gates*

God: Says here on my list of no-no's that you were playing that new Doom in 2016. Do you have anything to say for yourself?
Spartacus: Uhhhh, I lead a good life though? I fed the poor, build houses for homeless and genuinely was a decent person.
God: SILENCE PEON! To hell with you and the rest of those damn Doom players!

Very amusing, but that's not how I see it. It's not like playing Doom would be on some long list of sins I've committed.

And leading a good life (trying to) is in no way payment for my sins. I can't earn my way to heaven no matter what I do.
That's the whole point of Christ paying for my (our) sins through his sacrifice.

It has more to do with immersing my mind in evil imagery and focusing on that dark crap.

I'm not Indian, but I respect them a great deal and I've always liked this Indian story:

"A group of Cherokee children has gathered around their grandfather. They are filled with excitement and curiosity. That day there had been a quite tumultuous conflict between two adults and their grandfather was called to mediate. The children are eager to hear what he has to say about it.

One of the children pops the question that puzzles him. “Grandfather, why do people fight?”. “Well” the old man replies “we all have two wolves inside us, you see. They are in our chest. And these wolves are constantly fighting each other”. The eyes of the children have grown big by now. “In our chests too, grandfather?” asks another child. “And in your chest too?” asks a third one. He nods, “yes, in my chest too”. He surely has their attention now. Grandfather continues. “There is a white wolf and a black wolf. The black wolf is filled with fear, anger, envy, jealousy, greed, and arrogance. The white wolf is filled with peace, love, hope, courage, humility, compassion, and faith. They battle constantly”. Then he stops. It’s the child that asked the initial question that can’t handle the tension anymore. “But grandfather, which wolf wins?”. The old Cherokee simply replies, “the one that we feed”."

Wow what a racist story. Of course the black wolf is everything bad.
