hibernation?

Do most of you guys leave your monitor on and leave in hibernation mode? Other than the annoying orange led, does not fully turning off your monitor cause any lifespan decrease?

Or has mankinds laziness actually caused us to make such monitors capable of not being turned off fully and still last 10+ years?
 
I have only recently been turning my monitor off at night, but before I was leaving it in it's power saving mode (amber light on). I leave my PC off over night as well. I'm using a Sony G520P CRT, and just a few days before your thread I actually emailed Sony asking them what they recommended. I indicated that my primary concern was extending the life of my monitor.

Here was their response:

"If you are not using the Monitor, we suggest that you power off the Monitor."

I'm suprised that no one has replied to this thread considering the number of people that recently purchased off-lease/refurbished FW900's! I would think they'd be quite interested in the subject! :)
