The bridge is only ignored when SLI is disabled. With a multi-card or single-card SLI setup, SLI can still be disabled regardless of whether or not the bridge is connected.
 
Will the EA380 in my WHS be enough if I put the 8800GT from PhunkieTwo in it?

I am seriously considering the 295, and moving the 275 to PhunkieTwo. That would have me putting the 8800 in the WHS.

Having to purchase another PSU will set me back on my quest for the 295.
